iPad News: AT&T Stores to Sell iPads

Hot on the heels of the news that Verizon will be offering the iPad in its retail outlets, Apple and AT&T announced that the three iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models are coming to over 2,200 AT&T stores on October 28. While Verizon is offering the three Wi-Fi models with their own MiFi Mobile Hotspot, AT&T has the Wi-Fi + 3G models with a pre-paid data plan starting at $14.99, including unlimited access to more than 23,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots. Suggested retail prices are $629 for 16GB, $729 for 32GB and $829 for 64GB. It will be very interesting to see which carrier will sell more iPads over the coming holiday shopping season. At this point, I’d bet on Verizon, because iPad customers have already shown their preference for the Wi-Fi only models over the 3G version with the extra data charges.
