iPad News: Android, iPad Top PCWorld List

The list of PCWorld’s top 100 gadgets doesn’t hold many surprises, except for the way some very popular products were outranked by untried newcomers. Coming in first was Google’s widely-used Android 2.2 operating system, which will soon be supplanted by Android 3.0, a new version better suited for tablet computers. The iPad came in second, not surprising for the most-talked about new product of the year. The third-generation Amazon Kindle took third, while the ever-growing Netflix took fourth. I’d expect the DVD rental service to keep its rank next year, as its streaming video becomes available for more mobile devices. The brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab took number five, and I have to wonder why, since it’s not even being sold to the public yet. A year from now, this tab could be history if customers pass on its small screen and high prices. Other Apple products making the list were the iPhone 4 at #13 and the Apple TV at #21.
