iPad News: 28 Million Sold in 2011?

Another analyst has weighed in on the future of iPad sales, and he predicts a busy final quarter for Apple. Maynard Um of UBS Investment Research forecasts sales of 28 million iPads in 2011—despite competition from other tablets hitting the market—and adds the estimate “we believe could still be conservative.” Um does not see “viable threats” to the iPad’s supremacy “for some time.” This prediction paints a pretty bleak outlook for makers of low-end PCs, already hit hard by the way iPad has taken a big bite out of their notebook sales, who are readying their own tablets now. Um sees a very merry Christmas for Apple, expecting the company to “have some of the most highly sought after products in the holiday quarter.”
