Got iPad Shoulder? |
Listed in: iPad News Tags: apple, ipad injuries, ipad shoulder

In what will not come as a shock to any hardcore gamer, a Harvard study has discovered that if you sit in one awkward position for too long that it will - wait for it - hurt. The study found that iPad users commonly hold their device in their laps or at an angle lower than their head, which puts pressure on various joints.
The leader of the Harvard study, Jack Dennerlein, told NY Daily News that users are getting "stuck" in these awkward positions for long periods of time. He also said that iPad users should change positions frequently and move around more to avoid the dreaded "iPad shoulder." Stuck? Huh?
So it's common sense then. I know that after zoning out on the couch playing a console game for a couple of hours I'll feel like utter crap in various places if I don't change positions frequently. I and most gamers discovered this years ago. Humans aren't meant to stay in one position for too long, unless we're sleeping of course.
Anyone out there suffered injuries from gaming in one position for too long?

It has absolutely nothing to do with the iPad.

You can't really hold up portable devices like these for too long, unlike cell phones.
So you end up looking down, and of course that will cause pain after awhile.
This is nothing new.
