iPad Jailbreaking: How to Add Cydia Sources

By the use of these sources (repositories) developer enable Cydia to search for their apps so that jailbreak users can buy and install their work. So essentially, repos or repositories are just storage houses (sources) for content which is searchable via Cydia. Cydia generally comes pre-installed with popular repos like ModMyi or BigBoss. But if you want to get specific apps and add sources then how do you do that? Today, iPad.net brings you the simple guide allowing you to add sources to Cydia on your jailbroken iPad. Read on to find out.

1) First of all you need to open Cydia by tapping on the icon present on the home screen of your jailbroken iPad. 2) You need to then locate the Manage Tab and tap on it. 3) Next, tap on Sources. 4) Once you tap on sources, you will be provided with a list of various sources which have already been added to Cydia. Most likely, you would have never added a source by your own so you will only be shown the ‘Installed by Package’ sources. 5) To add a new source you need to locate and tap the Edit tab on the right side of the screen and then tap on the Add tab. 6) You will then be given a window to enter the URL (sources are in the form of a URL). Make sure you type down the URL without any mistakes. 7) Once you tap on Add source, Cydia updates itself and verifies the source. 8) After this is done, you will be able to locate the source in the ‘Entered by user’ list on the same screen mentioned in step 4. 9) If you want to see content available through the source, you need to simply tap on the source on this screen. That’s it! Adding source to Cydia is very simple and it allows you to exploit the full potential of jailbreaking your iPad.
