iPad Hacks: JailbreakMe Released for the iPad

Before we start, be warned that jailbreaking your iPad is said to void the warranty. Is it illegal to do so? Not now, since the Library of Congress approved a new DMCA exemption. In that respect, you are off the hook and don't have to worry. Another thing to consider is that many users have experienced bugs when using JailbreakMe 2.0 with their iPads. For this reason, you may want to wait a bit until more positive reports come from the program's users, or until a new update comes about. The positive is that the process is reversible, so you are not totally in trouble if you jailbreak your tablet and are unhappy with the results. If you want to reverse the jailbreak process, all you have to do is connect the iPad to your computer, sync it, and then go into iTunes and select the Restore option. To jailbreak using JailbreakMe 2.0, perform the following steps:

Sync your iPad with iTunes and backup all of your data just to be on the safe side.
Make sure you are running iTunes version 9.2.1 and also that your iPad is updated to iOS 3.2.1
Connect to an available network via Wi-Fi and then enter the Safari web browser
In Safari, go the http://jailbreakme.com website and select the Slide to Jailbreak option at the bottom of the screen.
Give the download some time to complete itself. Grab a sandwich or something while it downloads and leave your iPad alone until the jailbreak is finished.
Once complete, your iPad will be jailbroken and you will have access to Cydia and all of its third party apps.

There you have it. You now have another option for jailbreaking your iPad so you can access tons of third party apps. If you want to play on the safe side, as stated earlier, wait a bit until a newer update comes out that will likely have bug fixes. If you are feeling a bit adventurous, however, go ahead and perform the process, as you can simply reverse it later.
