After getting a handheld version on the Nintendo DS, the massively multiplayer online role playing game Ragnarok Online is now spreading to iOS devices. Gravity Interactive has announced Ragnarok Violet, a single-player version of the MMO for the Apple iPhone and iPad.
The game starts in the capital city Prontera where fans of the MMO will find familiar monsters such as Porings, Spores and Marins. Players will battle through the lush landscape and collect drops like in the original game such as Empty Bottles, Honey and the different colored Herbs. Even pets make an appearance.
The game features numerous dark caverns to explore as players search for quest items and tougher monsters to level up. Various upgradeable weapons and armor can be purchased or found to increase characters' survival rate when facing tough MVP bosses.
Ragnarok Violet is currently set for an August 5 release on the App Store. It'll be free when it launches. A PSP strategy RPG based on the MMO is also in the works.
