iPad Games: Starpagga Pushes iPad to the Limit

This is a great game, there’s no doubt. The action is pacey and relentless in this 3D space shooter. There are loads of different playing options including single player dogfighting and up to 8 person multiplayer via Bluetooth, LAN and internet connections. There are push game notifications for invitations for multiplayer games plus pushes for games host messages. Your space combat missions take you to the far reaches of the Solar System, past the red planet of Mars or the rings of Saturn. There are 2 tutorials, 14 combat missions and 4 challenge missions. Fly through the vacuum of space alongside your wingmen, using your radar for keeping an eye on your allies and your enemies. There are plasma clouds and asteroid fields to negotiate and use the accelerometer or touch interface to control your spacecraft. You can jazz up your chosen spacecraft with various torpedoes, lazars, missiles, cloaking devices and other groovy gear. This game is very playable and a real blast. The animation is fast and smooth. The screen is full of action and navigation is fantastic fun over the 3D display. The problem with it is this: it just looks stilted, odd. A brilliant display on the iPhone looks lacking on the iPad, and it seems that Funsuma have done precious little work in juicing up their graphics and animations for the iPad version. Why not? I appreciate there is loads happening in this game. The screen is saturated with action; your thumbs and wrists will be sore and your head will be spinning by the time you finish playing. But why are the enemies so rubbish? Why are they so blocky?
