If you have an iPhone, you may have played Real Soccer 2010 HD before. With the iPad, however, it is much better, as the iPad's processing power and brilliant display really help to immerse you in the game. The graphics are not on par with FIFA 10 for the PS3 or Xbox 360, but they are still very impressive for a portable gaming device. Most impressive is how the colors seem to pop off the iPad's screen. Stadiums look lively, and player models are decent. Overall, there are fourteen different stadiums to choose from. Player movements also look natural and not too robotic.
Playing the game itself is enjoyable, and you do not have to be an expert at playing soccer games, as the learning curve is not too steep. The iPad's touch-screen works well with controlling the game, and it allows you to switch between different players by simply touching them on the screen. You can adjust your offensive and defensive strategies instantly with a quick touch of the screen too. Throw-ins are quite fun, as they are executed by tilting the iPad, making you feel like you are actually part of the game. Controlling the ball while dribbling and shooting is also done with ease.

As far as gameplay modes are concerned, you have a few options to tinker with. You can play by yourself versus the computer. One single player mode is Club Master, where you pick a club team and play a full season with them. You can even perform player trades just as in real life. If you prefer a personal touch, choose Enter the Legend, where you will play a career of just one player of your choosing. More fun, however, is multiplayer. You can play versus friends either using a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection. Realism is added to the game by giving you actual rosters of eight different leagues and 245 different teams. You will never run out of different rosters to choose from. Even better, you can download updated rosters online that reflect any real-life trades that went down. For a soccer fanatic and an iPad owner, Real Soccer 2010 HD is just the perfect game to hold you off until the World Cup. At only $6.99, it's a small price to pay to quench your soccer thirst.
