Gameloft have jumped from cloning Halo to cloning Crysis with Nova 3, the third title in the their Nova series. They've also made the leap from using their proprietary engine to using Unreal Engine 3.
The trailer below for Nova 3 shows of the title and its new look, which is pretty impressive to see on mobile devices.
Gameloft have built a steady career by cloning well known franchises and titles that otherwise don’t reach the mobile market, and people seem to eat it up.
Mobile devices have come a long way in paralleling the rest of the videogame market, slowly catching up with the generations that precede it. I remember playing Snake on a phone while Super Mario 64 was the graphical standard, but now we have mobile devices that are capable of graphics rivalling the 3DS.
What are you experiences with Gameloft clones; do they irritate you or have they offered a decent mobile alternative to your favourite franchises?
