Baldur’s Gate On iPad

The first thing I try (and probably you guys) when I get a new device is to see what games I can play on it. I put Angry Birds and a NES emulator on my phone as soon as I could, DosBox on my Wii as soon as I could, and if I ever get an iPad or an Android phone, then I’d get GemRB on it as soon as I could.

GemRB is an application for running ‘Infinity Engine’ games on various devices. What are Infinity Engine-powered games? There’s a few, but most notably Baldur’s Gate.

GemRB is already around for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX, but now with Android and iOS support the circle is coming closer to completion.

If you want to play on iOS, you’ll need a developer’s certificate or a jailbroken device to run the app, but Android owners can simply download straight from the ever growing marketplace.

I’ve never played Baldur’s Gate, but after this little moment under the spotlight again, I may try it.
