iPad FAQs: iPad WiFi: How do I fix iPad WiFi Problems?

So what are the main problems? Weak signal seems to be the biggest culprit, followed by painfully slow downloading and frequent signal loss. Often there are reports that users cannot reconnect after a signal loss. Have a go at some of these fixers before storming back to your Apple store: 1.    Configure your network: Your iPad may not automatically find the WiFi hotspot when you are out and about. Some bars and cafes require you to access a password to use their WiFi, and if may have to do this manually. Go to ‘Settings’, ‘WiFi’ and ‘Other’ then manually enter the network name and password 2.    Remove from case: This may seem obvious, but your case will probably contain other objects as well as your iPad that reduce reception 3.    Audio speakers: These really mess up signal reception. Keep these well away from your iPad when you’re using WiFi 4.    Get in close: Again this may sound obvious, but get in nice and close to the WiFi router or hotspot 5.    Total freeze: If this happens you’re going to have to do a total turn off and restart, a real pain. 6.    Home or Office Routers: With your own WiFi Router you may also need to restart your router by a quick switch off and on. If you are doing this you may want to disable wireless encryption at the same time to avoid conflicts with your iPad. A different encryption may be more reliable. 7.    WEP keys: Make sure you only use a single WEP key on your WiFi router 8.    Total Reset: If all else fails, you may have to go right back to default settings and start again. To do this, go to ‘Settings’, ‘General’, ‘Reset’, ‘Rest Network Settings’ and you’re back to square one. Quite honestly, these problems should have been identified way before product launch, but that’s what happens with a rapid rollout. Let’s hope subsequent versions fix the wobbly WiFi.

# Fix new ipad wifiSophi 2012-08-23 18:37
I remember having this issue; it was really annoying being forced to use the new iPad, only in the same room as my wifi router because of the poor range. I did a lot of research looking for a solution to this problem- A LOT. I did a bunch of research came across WIRED magazine and found a extensive and detailed review of Pong Research cases. These guys make a very special case which has a built-in antenna in between its layers, which redirects and boost the signal and range of your new iPad, iPhone and other devices. This solved my new iPad 3 wifi issues and now as a result, I'm able to connect to my router from further distance without a problem at all. And that's not all, one of the features I like the most is their Origami Cover which folds in 5 different positions while still maintaining the sleep/wake function.
