In terms of the operating system, will the next iPad release be brought up to speed with the iOS 4? Yes, an improved operating system will come with the newer generation. In fact, you don't even have to wait for the newer releases in the future, as the current generation of the iPad is set to receive the iOS 4 upgrade this fall. How could the iPad's memory and processor be improved? Since the current iPad has just 256MB of memory, it is not outlandish to believe that the next iPad release will at least have 512MB of memory to match that of the iPhone 4. It would be even better if Apple shipped newer iPad editions with 1GB of memory to better handle applications and avoid crashes. In terms of the processor, the current 1GHz chip offers solid performance, but a dual-core processor with a higher clock speed would mean even better performance for more intense programs such as games. Would the newer iPad generation match the iPhone 4 in terms of its improved gyroscope and accelerometer? This is highly likely, and if it becomes a reality then you can expect better control and response when it comes to games and similar features that require a lot of user input or movement. The iPad's lack of a camera is a real negative. Will we see one in the future? One can only hope so. By integrating a front-facing camera, users would be able to participate in video chat and other related functions that such a camera can provide. The iPad's size makes it a bit difficult to implement one, as focusing on subjects could be a bit of a task. Perhaps if the camera had a swivel function or facial recognition software it could work well. The iPad's audio sans headphones is a bit weak. Will it be improved at all? This would be another plus, as one does not always want to carry headphones around to enjoy the audio features. Better, more powerful integrated speakers would be a welcome sight. These are just some of the upgrades one can hope for in the next generation of iPad's. It will be intriguing to see what Apple has up their sleeves for the future.
