First of all, I’ll give you an example of misinformation. Disaster Survival Guide says, “The difference between a hurricane and tornado is the wind speed”… wrong! There are other crucial differences between a hurricane and a tornado that should be appreciated if you are concerned about hurricane storms hitting your home. For a start, tornados can touch-down anywhere, over both land and sea (over the sea they are known as a ‘water-spout’). An important feature that Disaster Survival Guide fails to tell you is that a hurricane can only develop over the sea, and only at certain times of year when the water temperature exceeds 70 degrees. Preparing for possible hurricane attack in the middle of Idaho is simply a waste of time, but you wouldn’t know that from the app. The second example of a crucial lack of information is under the Tsunami section. Disaster Survival Guide correctly describes how a Tsunami occurs but it fails to give any real advice about how to spot the approach of a Tsunami towards any beach you may be enjoying with your family. It’s easy: if the water suddenly surges a long way away from the beach, drive / run as fast as you can away from the beach! This is really important: Disaster Survival Guide is a waste of time, and is potentially dangerous due to its scant, lacking or incorrect information.
