iPad App Reviews: 3D4Medical's Images Accused of Lewdness

This app doesn’t use photography. Each image is hand rendered by 3D digital graphics professionals and is frankly brilliant. This is not a 3D interactive app – images can’t rotate for example, neither are they 3D in the sense that they pop out of the screen. Nevertheless, as a free taster app you get some fine content, and serves very well as an educational tool for students or for anyone interested in the inner functioning of the human body. Areas and systems of the body are fully searchable, and images can be saved together to create a personalised slide show. 3D4Medical’s Images is on version 1.1. Apparently the first version had to be amended as some customers had complained of “suggestive” content. I find this incredible. Apple has a notoriously strict ‘anti-porn’ policy, meaning it bans any app containing lewd content. This is a medical app for goodness’ sake! It’s going to contain images of the naked human body. If it’s worth its salt, it will include the human reproductive system including images of the penis and the vagina… A particular comment by a customer of this free app delivered a diatribe accusing 3D4Medical of having a hidden homosexual agenda, suggesting that the app contains subliminal gay messages including camp wrists and tablets with the word AIDS written on them. I wonder to what absurdity certain people’s bigotry will stoop. I must admit to laughing when I read this; it reminded me of that song from “Team America”, “Everybody Has AIDS”… This is a great app for anyone with an interest in the human body.
