iPad Accessories: MLB.com At Bat 2010 Review: Right on or Rip off?

To get the full MLB experience on your iPad, you need to fork out $14.99 for the app, plus $119.95 for the premium TV package. A slightly cheaper TV package is available at $99.95, the cheaper one giving you less desktop features. One of the immediate pleasures of signing up is you get a free TV game each day, fantastic to play in iPad HD. Live games give you two feed options, either home or away, and likewise with the audio commentary. To achieve this, the iPad tunes in to the local radio station of whichever team commentary you wish to follow. There are some major cool features on At Ball 2010. There is so much data available you are in serious danger of information overload. From the Settings screen you select your favorite team, and the app will automatically default to them every time you launch. You can see standings, check out player cards, click on the live stats during games, players’ positions and performance update in real time. As with the audio feed, if you are a subscriber you can either watch from the home or the away side. If you are a baseball fan, you can certainly follow your team wherever you are, especially with the improved connectivity of the iPad 3G. At Ball 2010 is not without glitches and for the price you pay some users are less than impressed. There have been numerous complaints about video quality not being up to HD standard. There is no archive feature for full games, and local games will not load. This is a bit of a mystery: you cannot watch the Yankees if you live in New York. Why? There are also several reports of live feeds. To fix this, simply join another game then revert to the game you want to watch: simple, but annoying. Is it worth the money? I guess it depends on how much of a baseball fan you are. For me, I would want less bugs for my dollars.
