The Camera Connection Kit is basically a set of two small adapters that plug into the iPad. The first adapter can be used to connect your digital camera or iPhone to the iPad via USB cord. The second adapter, meanwhile, can be used to transfer photos to the iPad via your digital camera's SD card. One of the good things about the kit's two adapters is that they are small and portable. The setup only takes a second to complete and simply involves inserting an adapter into the iPad's dock connector port. After that, all you have to do is insert either a USB cord or a SD card and that is the only physical work involved. Of course, some may say that the small size of the adapter's could be a bad thing, since they could get lost easily. Still, it's nice to be able to use them and not have to make a big production out of the entire photo transfer process. Once the devices are connected and the iPad recognizes the connection, the Photos app will pop up on the screen automatically. From there, you can choose which pictures you want to import into the iPad, as well as organize them however you wish into albums for easier access. This plug and play functionality is great and means that even the most technologically deficient users can transfer photos without any trouble or great technical knowledge. To take things one step further, after you transfer the photos from your camera or iPhone to the iPad, the iPad will then transfer those photos to your PC the next time you sync the two devices. In essence, the iPad almost does the entire transfer process for you, saving time and effort. As far as picture formats are concerned, the kit supports the standard JPEG and RAW formats.

Some added value comes along with the kit that allows for extra connective flexibility. The USB adapter can be used in accordance with other USB devices, such as keyboards, headsets, headphones, speakers and more. This is good to know, as you are getting more bang for your buck with the Camera Connection Kit. Speaking of bucks, the kit retails for $29, so if you are a picture lover and want to connect other USB devices to your iPad, pick one up!
