iPad Accessories: iPad Jabra Halo Headphones

These headphones by Jabra are not the only bluetooth compatible stereo headphones available on the market for the iPad. They look as sleek and elegant as the iPad, with the slender lines of both gadgets not destroyed by vulgar wires. Having said that, the Jabra Halo Headphones also have a 1/8” audio mini-jack, so you can also use them with non-bluetooth enabled devices. They are lightweight and don’t like a pair of plastic ear-warmers when you are wearing them. They are stylish and very comfortable, although feel a little flimsy wrapped around your head. When not in use, they fold away neatly to go inside your bag. This also acts as your power on/off mechanism. Volume control is a cool ‘touch headphone’ experience: to alter volume, simply move your finger up or down the outside of the right earpiece. Nice in theory, but a little tricky to get the hang of to begin with. The ‘pause / play’ control is in the middle of the right earpiece, and navigating tracks requires double tapping. This again requires some practice to get the correct level of ‘tap’. Of course, because of its bluetooth, you can equally use these headphones with your iPhone or iPod. If you are using the Jabra Halo Headphones with your iPhone, you can also use them when you’re making or receiving calls. The voice reproduction is not first class, but it is acceptable for headphones that are designed primarily for music use. The Jabra Halo Headphones are not cheap, retailing at $129.99. Sound quality is decent enough, but these headphones feel just a little too delicate for the rigors of day-to-day city life (great if you don’t live in the city of course). For ‘phones instead of ‘plugs, they do the job well, and are at the more stylish end of the range. However, I personally still think that ‘phones look is geeky, and with the flimsy build quality, I won’t be parting with $129.99.
