iPad 2: Which Accessories Work? Part 1 |

However, if the battery and/or charger that you currently have weren’t specifically made for an iPad, the situation could be a bit more complicated. This is largely because the iPad requires more juice than the iPod or iPhone. Hence, power accessories that don’t have the ‘Made for iPad’ stamp on it will not charge the iPad as efficiently as its own USB charger (10-Watt). iPhone’s high power chargers like iPhone Power Adapter and other chargers that are iPhone specific will only charge the iPad extremely slowly. For instance iPhone and/or iPad chargers do not provide ample juice that is required to charge the battery of an iPad that is in use. You are likely to see a message that will appear on the menu bar of the iPad that says ‘Not Charging’. Although these less powered accessories may power your iPad when in use, the battery only charges extremely slowly.
This is also the case when it comes to external batteries. Batteries that are made for the iPhone and/or the iPod may be able to charge the iPad’s battery while the device is in sleep mode, it would do this at an extremely slow pace. Some of the higher-powered batteries of the iPhone and/or the iPod may be efficient in powering your iPad during use, it will not be able to charge the iPad’s battery until such time that you put it on sleep mode.
The bottom line is that if you wish to charge the battery of your iPad as quickly as possible, you will need to use a battery that is specifically made for the iPad.
Headphones:
Like in the case of the earlier iPad, the iPad 2 does not ship a pair of headphones. Hence, you will need to get your own. The iPad 2 has the standard Apple’s headphone jack and this means that it will support the similar headphones that were used in the recent Mac models, iPhones and iPod touch.
In fact, any pair of headphones that have 3.5 mm miniplug will surely work absolutely fine on the iPad2. Moreover, if you already own headphones that are the signature Apple-style inline remote controlled, it will work just as well with the iPad 2 as it did with any other Apple product.
Stay tuned for part 2 of this series for more accessories.| This story sucks? This story rocks! |
