iPad News: It's Official President Obama Has An iPad

What else would the leader of the free world carry around but the iPad 2? President Barack Obama is definitely tech-savvy and knows his Apple devices, but it wasn’t until today that we got photo confirmation that he actually has an iPad. The White House channel on Flicker shows this photo of the Prez, and that’s an iPad 2 with a smart cover in his hand as he headed for the Presidential chopper. The caption reads: “President Barack Obama salutes as he walks to Marine One following a town hall meeting in Fairless Hills, Pa., April 6, 2011.” Obama is carrying the iPad 2 with the Smart Cover open, which isn’t that smart, since it defeats its purpose of protecting the screen. While Obama has owned up to having a Blackberry for years, he’s also been pictured using a Mac. Just a month ago, Obama was interviewed by Univision host Jorge Ramos at an education town hall and owned up to having a BlackBerry, an iPad and a computer. He laughingly explained the last gadget: “I mean, Jorge, I’m the president of the United States. You think I’ve got to go borrow somebody’s computer? ... ‘Hey, man, can I borrow your computer? ... How about you? You’ve got one?’” He also admitted he’s addicted to his BlackBerry. “I took my BlackBerry off for this show, because I didn’t want it going off, and that would be really embarrassing. But usually I carry a BlackBerry around.”

Obama recently hosted a gathering of tech giants like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg in California, but unfortunately no gossip was leaked about what transpired at the meeting. Wonder if the President got any inside info on what may be coming from Apple this year? Or at least the chance to get that iPad 2 without waiting weeks for shipping.
