iPad 2 News: Target, Sam's Club to Sell iPad 2 March 11

As the sale date for the iPad 2 grows closer, the number of places you can buy one gets larger. The latest retailers to be added to the list are Walmart spinoff Sam’s Club and trendy chain Target. Sam’s Club has been carrying the Apple tablet since November 2010 and a manager at the store’s location in La Habra, California has stated that “he is 95 percent sure he will have it in on Friday morning.” If you have a Sam’s Club nearby, this might be the place to pick up your iPad 2 on Friday, since the chain has a policy of lower prices than others which could save you as much as $20, plus a 90 day no-questions-asked return policy. If you’re like me and don’t have a Sam’s Club nearby but do have a Target, a spokeswoman told PCMag that “We will be offering all 18 versions and price it as all other retailers have, starting at $499.” The “18 versions” referred to are three models each for Wi-Fi only, AT&T GSM and Verizon CDMA, each available in black or white. Target will not take online orders, selling the iPad 2 only in-store. The chain also will have a program that lets owners of the original iPad trade them in for store credit beginning March 13 at Target Mobile locations.

Best Buy has already announced that the retailer will be carrying the iPad 2 on launch day, and of course, all Apple Stores will have it. So while you may still be stuck waiting in long lines on Friday night, at least you do have several choices of where to pick up your new iPad 2.
