crystal-dynamics-thumbFor the past few years, Crystal Dynamics has been pretty much synonymous with the Tomb Raider franchise, so when they talk about a new AAA title in development at the studio the name "Lara Croft" immediately comes to mind. While a new Tomb Raider seems a foregone conclusion, it seems Crystal Dynamics may be bringing something new to the table.

A Brazilian senator is putting "offensive" video games on the chopping block through a bill that spells imprisonment for those caught making, importing, or distrubuting such games in Brazil.
The bill, authored by Brazilian Senator Valdir Raupp, has already passed through the Education Commission of the Senate and will now go to vote in the Committee on Constitution and Justice.
Brazilian website UOL reports that Raupp's bill seeks to "curb the manufacture, distribution, importation, distribution, trading and custody, storage, the video games that affect the customs, traditions of the people, their worship, creeds, religions and symbols."
Raupp's bill sets a penalty of one to three years imprisonment for those caught breaking it.

ds2-thumbIt seems Visceral's already rolling out the teasers for Dead Space 2. A pic posted on the official Dead Space Twitter account certainly gives credence to that idea, at least.

ff13-thumbThe guy's face, physique, and last name may change, but since Final Fantasy II, every major Final Fantasy title has featured a guy named Cid. Final Fantasy XIII's Cid is a departure from the predominantly older versions of the character, appearing as a young soldier instead.

ps3ww-thumbThanksgiving was a boon for Sony this year. The PS3 console managed to move almost 500,000 units during Thanksgiving week. Add that to the sales generated by the Slim and the price cut a couple of months ago and some nice new titles like Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 and we have one great way to celebrate the PlayStation brand's 15th anniversary. Hit the jump to see what went on in our PlayStation 3 blog during anniversary week.

pspww-thumbBig week for Sony and the PSP. The PlayStation brand's celebrating its 15th anniversary, and the PSP line saw increased sales over Thanksgiving. We also picked up some hot rumors over the past seven days, most notably something about a UMD add-on for the PSP Go. Game-wise, we finally got word on Japanese and UK release dates for Peace Walker and confirmation for something Square Enix has been greeedily keeping to itself: a localized release for Birth By Sleep.

No homebrew games this week, but we do have more updates from MaGiXieN and Team GENyUS regarding their custom firmware projects. We also saw a new homebrew enabler app, further updates from community regulars like Bubbletune, spike_132000, and pen, along with a cool new app that lets you stream TV shows to your PSP via Wifi. Read about all that in this week's PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior.
