Nikon Coolpix P3Nikon Coolpix P3
The Coolpix P3 was announced a few months back - late 2005 I believe.  There are so many camera announcements seemingly every day that it's hard to get excited about each one.  But the P3 grabbed my attention.  It ushers-in the next generation of [point and shoot] digital camera features.  It's WiFi enabled.  Sooooo...?

So.  You will be able to wirelessly transfer your images to your laptop, PDA, or mobile storage device.  No more having to change memory cards to avoid running out of space, or forgetting a USB cable to download your shots while on vacation.  (I believe there's a dSLR out there that's capable of this now, but I can't remember for certain.)

I love this idea.  I can totally see having my PowerBook in my backpack, sucking my photos down wirelessly as I snap awful shots, ten at a time.

There's 23MB built-in to the P3, and it accepts SD memory cards to buffer your wireless transfer.  Theres also Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) technology - otherwise known as Image Stabilization - to further sweeten the deal.  Otherwise it's a fairly un-assuming looking 8 megapixel point & shoot with a 2.5" LCD.
