Two Worlds - Image 1

Upon hearing the rumor that Oblivion/Diablo-esque RPG, Two Worlds from producer Zuxxez might be headed to the PlayStation 3, QJ decided to go straight to source and find out what the deal is, and find out we did.

Official word is that developer Reality Pump already has PS3 dev kits, and is "currently checking the possibilities. But there is no final decision right now." So there you have it, it's definitely a possibility. If you're a big fan of Two Worlds, let the developers and publishers know in the way only internet armies can, and keep checking back for a big interview focusing on the Xbox 360 version of the game, also you can bet we'll let you know once we hear anything else about the possibility of a PS3 version.

Greetings dear readers, fair-weather friends and assorted rabble! We've got together with the guys over at Game Factory to offer you the chance of winning a free copy of their new fighting game Legend of the Dragon (Previewed in our pages here!). We've got one copy on each platform, PSP, PS2 and Wii to give away, so if you're interested just follow these simple contest rules:
  • Send an email to contest@qj.net with the words "Legend of the Dragon" in the subject heading, if you don't include this in the header I won't receive the email! You must also tell me which platform (PSP, Wii or PS2) you want a copy for, pick only one!
  • One entry per-applicant. Multiple entries by the same applicant will not increase your chances of winning and are grounds for disqualification!
  • Entries must be submitted by 11pm CST on Monday the 21st... no stragglers!
  • Contest is only open to US Residents. (boo-urns! We know, but that's just the way it's gotta be for now).
That's it! Once we've got all the entries I'll spin around 3 times with my eyes closed, take a long swig of a highly alcoholic beverage and pick one winner for each platform. Not long after your free copy will be winging it's way to you, the contest winner.

'Aint life grand when you can get free games?

Big Image - Image 1  Toshiba might not be the first name that pops into your head when you think about high end PC gaming (much less high end laptop PC gaming) but having recently given its latest Satellite gaming laptop a drive around the block, I think it's safe to say that's about to change.

The Design and Chassis: It's pretty darn classy, if you're a little bit more mature about your gaming and would rather not be seen walking around with a laptop that looks like it's a leftover prop from some bad 90's B-movie, you'll appreciate the P105's simple sleek curves and distinct lack of gaming bling. If it needs to it can actually look surprisingly normal, you can whip it out at the local Starbucks and manage not to look like the ultimate geek. There's no ugly chrome, no weird and extraneous cheap plastic attachments, just an understated sense of verve in the form of a soft blue glow from the systems front mounted speakers. Keys and shortcuts are conveniently and intelligently laid out with ample space so things rarely feel cramped. I say rarely because the touchpad is perhaps just a little small to be completely comfortable, and because it's offset to the left which kind of gets a little inconvenient during a heated gaming session. That said, the special tap activated backlight is quite useful, as well as the quick access provided to a number of software driven shortcuts, with options to quick-launch the web browser, volume control as well as activate various applications and multimedia functionality.

More keys! That's right, we've given away hundreds already, but we've got hundreds left to go, now's your chance to get in on MGames' charming MMO. If you'd like to take part in the 3rd closed beta, all you have to do is follow these steps:

- You'll receive your key in the mail shortly, after that all you have to do is register a free Netgame account and activate your beta key! Nuthin' to it!

Additionally, if you already got a key during the 1st or 2nd closed beta, you don't have to try to get in on this one as well, you'll still be allowed to play with that same key in this third closed beta. Also, please note that if you've already sent an email requesting a beta key in, you don't need to request another one, your request is being processed and you'll be sent one shortly.

Be sure to read the rest of the article after the jump for a word from MGame!

Unfortunately they're barely bigger than a postage stamp, still, we'll take what we can get, especially since it's been a while since we've seen or heard anything on Artoon and AQI's multiplatform action title for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

When important people talk, the world listens, so listen now. Henceforth, strawberry cheesecake (the baked kind, not the crappy pre-frozen dreck) shall accompany every meal eaten, like forever. Chris Coker hath spoken. Okay, okay, so maybe I've got delusions of grandeur, maybe I'm not important at all, but Tyson Green, Multiplayer Design Lead on Halo 3 is, he recently sat down for a pow wow with the folks at GamePro, and we've got da juice... Wooo!

GamePro: We think Bungie is one of the few developers that is doing online gaming right. What are the biggest problems plaguing online games today?

Tyson Green: For big online games, the biggest problem is probably getting the right population. A matchmaking model, or an MMO (persistent or not) requires a large enough population to keep the system fed. Not enough, and the system fails, so nobody uses it, and it's a downward spiral. And even if your system works fine with a small population, your players may be uninterested because not enough of their friends are playing.

There's also a lack of focus on the offline-to-online transition. There are games which are fantastic offline, but have very rough, unfinished network code, or a bare bones interface for finding a game. If you don't fully and seriously support the online experience, it's going to turn out badly, and then you're going to faceplant into the population problems.

GamePro: Gears of War is a great example of how to do co-op online play right. Should co-op (online) be considered a standard, and is that a direction Bungie is interesting in moving?

GREEN: Again, depends on your game. A very atmospheric game like Resident Evil or F.E.A.R. might be ruined by having someone else in the game with you. Doubly so online, where you don't even have the connection you might have with someone on the sofa beside you. Likewise, a very exacting game like the original Ghost Recon could be pure frustration (though for people in the right mindset, it was a superb coop game.) So no, not a standard... but if you can support it, and your gameplay supports it, it's a fantastic feature.

And it's an interesting direction for Bungie, certainly. Marathon and Myth both featured network cooperative modes, and we've wanted to do it for Halo, but so far it's been something we've been unable to really commit to doing right. It's non-trivial, but we'll see what happens.

Would it really be so hard to release the same Virtual Console titles simultaneously in all territories rather than leave some of us with an anemic lineup? Whatever the case, looks like us Westerners will be eyeing the Wii's Japanese Virtual Console lineup with a tinge of jealousy for a while longer. Here's a list of Nintendo's Virtual Console lineup for the fine month of January... more than enough reason to stick indoors and play with your Wii eh? Now if they'd just fix the damn pricing...

So you've been a little naughty this year, maybe Santa isn't exactly thrilled, maybe the red-suited fatman won't be zipping down your chimney to shower you with gifts and yuletide joy, never fear, QJ and Neuros have got your back. You might be thinking we've already given away a few of these, but you'd be wrong (ish) this is a whole different beast. What the guys at Neuros are offering today is the advanced model of the regular Neuros Recorder 2, this is the Neuros Recorder 2 Plus! What that means is that you'll be able to use this swanky little device not only with your PSP, but with your iPod and those new fangled smartphone devices all the cool kids are carting around these days. Click here to find out more about the Recorder 2 Plus.

If you happened across our last little shindig where we gave a Recorder 2 away, you'll know the drill, it couldn't be simpler. All you have to do is reply in the comments below while signed into QJ with your site username (register if you haven't got one), once we get all entries, we'll shake the box round, have Jake cut a fancy ribbon and pull a lucky name from the ether. Entries will be accepted until Friday 15th at 9pm CST, so be sure to reply before then.

Contest Rules:
  • You MUST reply in the comments with a valid QJ username, we'll need the email you signed up with to contact you if you win. However, please DON'T INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL IN THE COMMENTS. We'll be able to get that info from our records (web-magix!)
  • The contest will be open till Friday 15th at 9pm CST. All comments must be in by this time to count as entries.
  • Contest is open only to U.S. residents. We know, it sucks, the guys at Neuros know it too, and they wish it didn't have to be that way but unless you want to pay  $100 in fees just to claim your prize, this is the only way.
To clarify, you DON'T need to post your QJ forum name, or your email address, we'll be using the name you reply with in the comments below as long as it's a registered QJ site username.

As always in these sorts of things, we wish y'all the best of luck.
