Famed Japanese game designer Keita Takahashi, creator of the Katamari Damacy series and the recent quirky downloadable title Noby Noby Boy, has reportedly parted ways with Namco Bandai. A company representative confirmed Takahashi's resignation earlier today. His departure from doesn’t come as a great surprise as the outspoken developer previously expressed his disappointment with the current state of the gaming industry.

A new firmware update for the DSi and DSi XL has been released by Nintendo. Although the update doesn't seem to add any new functionality to the device except for "behind-the-scenes improvements to system performance," certain users in the DS homebrew scene think otherwise.

Thanks to the input of the community, the DaedalusX64 team has now chosen the 16-bit version of DaedalusX64 as their default build from now on because of the reported speed up and compatibility improvements. But just in case you still prefer the old one, a 32 bit version of the Nintendo 64 emulator project for the PlayStation Portable is also available for your downloading pleasure.

Fresh from the reported new VSH user mode exploit, the PSP homebrew scene has another reason to celebrate today as wololo, m0skit0, ab5000 and JJS releases revision 100 of their infamous Half Byte Loader project, the open source homebrew loader for PSP firmware 5.03 to 6.20 using the Patapon 2 demo exploit and now on firmware 6.30 and 6.31 thanks to the Minna no Golf Portable exploit.

What a delightful little game this is. I’m guessing it’s been designed for female customers (or is that me being sexist) but I am unashamed to say I’ve really enjoyed playing this game. This is the fantasy realm’s answer to the Wal-Mart Family. Miriel is a humble shop-keeping girl with a gift for magical powers. As the storyline progresses she establishes her growing emporium of bakery shops, following adventures and solving puzzles / mini-games along the way. This is a gentle and relaxing game, but it’s anything but boring. It still requires skill and perseverance. Perhaps if your overplaying of first-person shooters is giving you nightmares, Miriel the Magical Merchant HD could be the perfect remedy.

Upcoming DS homebrew developer dextervi has released the first version of Sound Way, a cool musical game in which you compose certain melodies by moving different vessels on screen.
