Trapped minersBob Marley once said that when music hits you, you feel no pain. For the sake of trapped miners Todd Russell and Brant Webb let's hope Marley was right. Due to a rock fall last April 25, miners Todd Russell and Brant Webb were trapped in Beaconsfield Gold Mine in Northern Tasmania. Discovered only on Sunday, April 30, a drilling operation to free the pair will begin May 3 at 3:30 in the afternoon.

The rescue operation, which will last for 48 hours, is aided by a digital camera which was provided to the trapped men. Australian Workers Union national secretary Bill Shorten says that the camera helps “guide the rescuers to the best spot to rescue the blokes, so the blokes are helping to rescue themselves”. To up the hopes of both men, who already lost third miner Larry Knight (also trapped with them), they were given letters from their family and the ever-present iPod. Mine manager Matthew Gill tells reporters, “They remain in good health and have now received iPods so they can listen to their favourite music.''One of the miners was rumored to have asked for country music to be loaded into his iPod. If this is not proof of iPod's omnipresence, I don't know what is.
