The Earth is old. Far older than we can imagine. It has a history of life we've only glimpsed here and there from fossil records and other clues. It was here long before we came, and will be here long after we're gone. There's no better reminder of this than seeing how vulnerable life on the planet really is. This week's Science Weekend Warrior is all about appreciating life on Earth.

A part of me struggles against the idea of pitching Superman against, well, anybody, but getting him to kick the lights out of Shang Tsung and the rest of the Mortal Kombat roster makes me... scratch my head. Still, if the devs make it work, then why not? Video games are a big thing right now (remember how the industry's growth beat the US economy's 4-to-1?), but it seems Hollywood is a tough one to catch up with. According to a new report from the EMA, DVD sales still rake in more cash than video games. More in the full article.

Aloha, Wiibrewers! This week's seen quite a lot of great releases from the Wiibrew community, not least of which is the new Homebrew Browser from coder teknecal. There's also a new Winamp in town (for the Wii at least), by the name of DragonMedia Player. That and more in the full article!

Lately, we've haven't heard much updates for Wii64, the N64 emulator for the Wii. However, it seems that one gamer didn't need it. He (or she) managed to play the classic GoldenEye 007 N64 game on the Homebrew Channel with little hitches. Watch a vid of it in the full article.

E3 is just around the corner, and we haven't heard of that many games announced for the PSP (although we do have Dissidia to look forward to). There also weren't that many games this year, and the homebrew scene isn't as noisy. Because of this, many have come to wonder if the PSP is a dying platform. Sony's John Koller begs to differ. This development library isn't strictly Wiibrew, but it's a mighty useful tool that homebrew developers for other platforms out there might enjoy. WiiRemoteJ is a library that allows your computer to interact with the Wiimote and Balance Board through Bluetooth, with Java as the medium. More details in the full article.
