The QJ.Net team has been polling the public to find the features you want to see. We have asked the questions, and we have read your answers. It is with this in mind that we are proud to announce our newest feature, the top 15 most popular articles from our comprehensive news coverage. As you have probably noticed, we recently implemented the "Jump It Up" feature to all of the QJ.Net sites, allowing you to vote for the articles you like. We are now taking this a step further and showing you the news you have voted for at the top of each of our sites.

This new feature will, in effect, keep the most popular articles posted in the last 24 hours at the top of each site for easy access. Every site will have its own list, reflecting the most "Jumped" articles from that specific site. The list will be ever changing and constantly updated showing the articles that have been voted most popular by you, our readers!

Your feedback is important, and we want to hear your thoughts. What do you think of this new feature? Lets hear your opinions in the comments section below!

Those of you who have been closely following Fluff's PSIX project will be very interested to know that Fluff has recently updated the PSIX website with a message to the community.

Psix PDR (PSP Developer Resources)
Through the process of psix's conception, realisation and progression, it became clear to me that there was little in the way of development support, due to the closed doors on psp development as far as sony were concerned. The site ps2dev.org is now known the world over for it's assistance to developers in that of the development of the PSP SDK and various other tools, libraries and resources.

It is with this in mind that i start the PDR project, basically with my share of psix pro membership sales (35%), all of it will go back into the psp community, in the form of books, software and when needed, hardware. How much i end up with, to put back into the psp community is anyones guess, however i will do my best to provide resources to as many developers as possible.
Oopo, a site admin over at PS2Dev.Org, has recently come across fluffs message, and from the sound of things, was not all that pleased. Here is the questions Oopo posed to the devs at PS2Dev.Org:

So, does anyone else appreciate this guy:

1) Charging $10/head for a shell replacement built on our tools.
2) Invoking the 'ps2dev.org' name to help sell it.
3) Never approaching us for permission or even offering any funds?

I certainly don't. How about you?

What do you think? Lets hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Flight sim fans rejoice, Namco is bringing one of its extremely popular titles to the PSP! Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception is the latest installment to the Ace Combat series from Namco. Sporting an all original story line, detailed jet models, many "real world" jets and the options to tune them all, it is shaping up to be everything you would expect from Namco. So far, Famitsu has confirmed 4 popular jet models and those are the F-14D Super Tomcat, Tornado F3, F2-A and MIG-31 Foxhound.

The games modes are also getting plenty of attention. Campaign mode will put you in the pilot seat as a member of the Gryphus Squadron of the Federal Republic of Aurelia where the game will make use of the strategic AI system and missions will change depending on the strategies that you use.

Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception will feature a 4 player multiplayer mode via ad-hoc that will allow you to split into teams for co-op play. Having already been given a fall release schedule in Japan, there is not yet an announced release time for the US.

The game's main appeal is its drive through the wastelands which promises gore and excitement when you mow down zombies, using chainsaws or metal spikes for fun.

For those hardcore gamers out there, good news has come in the form of the highly anticipated PhysX processor (PPU) from AGEIA. For those who are unaware, the PPU processor is the first hardware accelerator chip designed specifically to accelerate physics. Currently, Alienware, Dell and Falcon Northwest have announced themselves as launch partners for the systems containing the new technology. The downside to this is that currently there isn't much that is compatible with the physics acceleration. The first game that will fully support PPU out of the box will be Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, and it is not due to be released until May.

However, if you are a City of Villians fan, there is some great news for those who are buying the PPU equipped PC's. City of Villains is the first MMORPG to announce support for the PhysX based processor. What difference can you expect to see when playing CoV on a PhysX based processor? Well, a large difference according to AGEIA, displaying an estimated 10x the number of particles on a physics based event:

While all City of Villains  players benefit from the game’s software physics created by the AGEIA PhysX SDK, players with PhysX Accelerator cards will experience some 10 times the number of particles displayed in physics-based events, resulting in an even more immersive experience. For example:

  • Mayhem Missions, which are set in a destructible environment, have destroyed objects taking greater advantage of the physics effects, such as a newspaper vending machine which, when blown up, shreds thousands of particles of paper around it.
  • Physics particles can be affected by external forces. For example, the shredded bits from the newspaper machine linger in the air only to be blown away by other explosions.
  • World geometry will be retrofitted with reactive physics effects, such as leaves being dropped from trees when a Power Blast is cast nearby.

MIT... The name its self conjures up an image of innovation and advancement. It is not surprising, then, that MIT is the site of the latest breakthrough in interplanetary communications. The way things currently work is that any scientific data or images are sent over a radio frequency, which can take hours to transfer the information. With this new breakthrough, MIT has developed a tiny light detector that will boost the transmissions to "Super fast broadband communications over interplanetary distances".

The new detector will boost detection to an amazing 57% efficiency (improved from the current 20%) using a wavelength of 1,550 nanometers, the same frequency used to transmit broadband signals through optical fibers in homes and offices today. Read all the details at MIT's website below.
