If you plan to stay up all night in order to study, play MMORPGs, or work by taking large amounts of coffee, you're in for one heck of a ride come daytime. According to studies, drinking caffeine wreak havoc on daytime sleep even after a night of sleep deprivation. An experiment was made where a number of people took coffee before their normal sleeping hours (read: night time) and eventually they had an extremely hard time at achieving deep slumber: they had less Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. The results suggest that taking it during the usual sleeping hours worsens sleep quality. So why does it happen? The researchers said that caffeine daytime effects were due to the fact that most of the subjects were trying to fall asleep when their bodies was shouting to keep them awake. Taking coffee at night makes it even worse by allowing the "wake-up call signal" in the body stronger. Although the article never gave any suggestion, it's implied that people should refrain from taking too much coffee and, if their occupations won't permit it, find a suitable alternative like eating apples or taking some legal, medical stimulants. If you have any other suggestion, fell free to write them down in the comments section below. |

Is this a case of counting chickens even before the eggs hatch? Red Steel hasn't even officially arrived at the table yet and it's already got a "rumored" sequel coming out. Speculations about Red Steel 2 was fuelled when Ubisoft President Yves Guillemot made a comment a few days ago regarding how happy he was to work with Nintendo. He then spoke something about expecting another "western-Asiatic" type of game for the Wii in the future. Whether he meant another game or a sequel, well, your guesses are as good as our.Red Steel is a game suited just for the Wii as it will make full use of both the Wiimote and the Nunchuck controllers. The game will have a western and eastern feel as the hero goes back to Japan, battle a couple of Yakuza bosses and rescue his fiancee. So far, a lot of previewers are giving it the 'two thumbs up'. If you want to see a sample, you can browse over to our recent video article. Remember, what the President said is still in rumor territory as we have yet to see nor play the full version of the game. We guess that if it sold well, a sequel would be sure to follow, if it bombed, the future's up for grabs. Is it too early too tell? What do you guys think? |

Sudden cancellations most likely result to a lot of angry people, especially if it's a cancellation of a next-gen console auction. eBay has suddenly pulled out auctions for pre-ordered PS3s and Wiis.Joystiq consoles furious eBay traders by saying that eBay was just protecting them. No game platform launch in history has ever gone according to plan -- there will most likely be some delivery difficulties, or even downright re-schedules. The site continues to say that Sony's history of delays and even Nintendo's past regarding lost DS Lites may bring possible problems for both companies this coming November/December. eBay learned from the Xbox 360 delivery failures, which had eBay customers paying for consoles that never got to them on time. According to Joystiq, "Don't hate on eBay. They're just being responsible." On the other side, the aggrieved parties felt that eBay was violating its own rules. According to one trader, the Rules for Pre-Sales says that no one should sell something one doesn't have, and that the auction site should ensure that, "ALL Sellers to prove they are legit." In short, eBay should never have allowed anyone to post items without proof of its existence. What do you guys think, did eBay just save a whole lot of people out there from "opportunistic console campers" or did the auction site wrong its clients by breaking their own law? Feel free to comment below. |

Phantasy Star Online was a game that made Sega Dreamcast really popular in 2000. The game then went to nearly all gaming platforms popular during that time: PC, GameCube, and Xbox. Now, the Sega game is back - this time on the Xbox 360 as Phantasy Star Universe. Last time, we mentioned that the free demo (with a free GUARDIANS License) was available on the Xbox Marketplace until October 18. If you haven't downloaded it yet because of the massive 950 MB size and want to see some sort of preview, you're in luck my friend. We just got this video via-YouTube where a person named Pinksage is playing Phantasy Star Universe during Digital Life. It may seem that it it's easy to get lost in the game's surroundings, but we guess that once people get a hang of the game, it'll be a cinch to conceive a player, chat with strangers, create a party, and go on missions. Want to try it out? Check out the video below and feel free to comment on anything regarding the game on the Comments section. Thanks to godfree for the heads up! |

Ted Price, Insomniac President, has been a very busy man lately. He's been taking charge of most of the interviews for their newest project, Resistance: Fall of Man. Last time, he was featured while giving a six-part preview, now he sits down with Play Beyond and gives them the background story and the reasons on why their game should be treated better than other FPS games out there. In the video interview, Ted gives the game's background story and how the main character enters the picture. Asia is overrun by the Chimera --a parasitic race-- and is taking over Britain. The U.S. sends their troops to help the Brits kick the parasites out, but is immediately wiped out save for one. Sgt. Nathan Hale survives being infected by the virus and continues on fighting with the depleted British troops. However, the game is not told from his point of view but rather from one of the soldiers. In this way, the gamer can observe how the sergeant deals with not only the external aliens he must vanquish, but also the internal demons which he must overcome. Everybody is haunted by their own demons, right? The variety of gameplay improves thanks to the different enemy AI and unique weapons not normally seen in an FPS. Since the aliens are made up of different forms, they move and attack in different ways. For example, there are some who are team-players and like to swarm while there are those who choose to attack alone, not waiting for reinforcements. The weapons are not the normal, garden-variety, and Army-issued ones we usually see or hear about, plus it can be combined with other weapons to build a totally different kind of firepower. All these combinations - varied enemy AI, weapon-mixing, third person point of view storytelling- will hopefully make the game more replay-friendly and very engaging. The First Person Shooter (FPS) genre hasn't really been a hit in Japan, so most were surprised that Resistance will be coming out as a launch title for the PS3. Ted defends the genre by saying that first-person-shooters can bring a lot more to the Japanese audience in terms of story, variety, and great gameplay. He believes his game offers a lot, be it for single, multiplayer or online, compared to many others. He talks more on how the PS3's graphics power and Blu-ray helped them in creating and developing the game. If you don't want to take our word for it, you can view the whole video on the link below. Do you think Japan will open up to more FPS games because of Resistance: Fall of Man? Why or why not? Let us know through your comments. |

Before you start downloading the videos below, though, we implore you to first turn down the volume. No, it's not because Tom Salta's music didn't live up to expectations, but rather because of all the realistic background noise you'll hear: the dulling hum of the air conditioners in the hangar during a shooting spree and the distracting buzz of a plane in the middle of a sword fight among others. The reverberations of the game will take you as near as possible to a real fight. The graphics are above average (this is extremely good considering that the Wii's asset is gameplay). Little subtleties like how sunlight comes down through gratings or how the baddies fly like rag dolls in the air when hit with a grenade, goes a long way for most gamers. There are some things though that may need improvement, such as the way enemies move in swordfights; they need to react more fluidly. Let's hope the game developers work on this before the game gets shipped out. You can tell us how you feel about what you've seen (or heard) by commenting below. Until the next batch of videos and screens, we hope you enjoy the vids. Lonekeeper will need to change his username because he won't be alone anymore if he keeps on doing this for the World of Warcraft community. He just collected some great addons that most might like. Here are just some of them: Ace, AceGUI, Atlas, AtlasLootEnhanced, BuyPoisons Remix, CTMod (Master, Mail, Party, Raid, RaidBosses, Unit (frames), DamageMeters, EnergyWatch_v2, Fontabulous (I used Myriad at size 78), GBars, KLHThreatMeter, MobInfo(Includes MobHealth), ntmysFixLoadingTimes, Natur's , EnemyCastBar (NECB), Nurfed (Combat Log, HUD), Outfitter, RangeColour, SCT, Titan Panel (Includes all the default ones), UberQuests (Modded). Installing them is a cinch. You should first exit the game, unzip the files to default folder: C:Program FilesWorld of WarcraftInterfaceAddons, then run. If you'd like to modify some of the addons you can follow the instructions below: Atlas - Click on minimap button CTMod - Click on the CT/RA minimap button. Don't you find organizing your bag just a drag sometimes? Won't it be just nice if there was a mod that can automatically store items in it using the commands or system you want? Well, don't fret anymore because Sentinelum just developed the BagMan Mod for World of Warcraft. So what can it do? Let us count the ways. It can compress stacks, collapsing all items so that they'll occupy the beginning slots or from the last ones. It can also move items to correct bags. For instance you can place all herbs in the "herbs" bag and so on. For those who just wants to clean up the whole bag, you can clear it of all items - no need to take them out one by one anymore. If you need them back, you can undo them as long as it was the last command you typed. Sorting them by quality, type, etc. can make looking for that special potion faster. The downside is that since it's still in early beta state, it has no UI interface and operates on existing content and sorts them as you tell it to. Don't worry, as soon as we get an update for this mod, we'll get to it right away. Download: [BagMan Mod] |

Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkachi 2 is about to hit the Wii in a couple of weeks and most just can't wait to get their hands on it; and the artbox shown last time just got most gamers teased. Although the 100 optional characters and the cool cell-shaded graphics are already great enough treats on their own, it's how the Wiimote and Nunchucks will be used that's making most crazy with curiosity and delight. Here are three videos for those who are still thirsting for more DBZ for the Wii. The first video will show our chubby friend, Majin Buu take on Dodoria; the second shows our main hero, Son Gokou spar with Piccolo; and the last one has the Yamtcha and Krillin match. Remember to take a look at the bottom right-hand corner as it will show how the Wii controllers will be used for this game. Although, it may not be as dramatic as most expect, at least there's still hope for us sedentary folks. The game will be out November 21. Ubisoft announced today that the award-winning composer Tom Salta will be providing the score for the game Red Steel. To the gaming community, he's known for doing the background music of Project Gotham Racing 3 and Sprung, among many others. In the TV and movie industry, he's famous for creating kaleidoscopic musical backgrounds for "2006 Winter Olympics," "Joan of Arkadia," and "Third Watch". In order to apply the right sonic mood and effect to the game, he arranged and recorded traditional Japanese instruments like the "Taiko," "Koto," "Shamisen," and "Shakuhachi" as performed by expert musicians. He also employed a few people like conservatory-trained Japanese opera singers, Taikoza, the percussion specialist group, and Lili Haydn, the renowned violinist. To reflect the Western-side of the game, he included a wide spectrum of musical styles like orchestra, electronic, rock, hip hop, and many more. You can actually hear some of the music in the videos from a Red Steel event in Paris, France. In the first one, you'll see two Frenchmen discussing the game while playing it. You'll notice that the cameraman tends to switch from the screen and back to the gamers. He's just showing you how the controllers tie-in with the game onscreen. The remaining four shows more of the levels in the demo. So far, it's looking very good. We've also included some new screens from the same event. Whew! The French really had it good with Red Steel that day. We'll be eagerly anticipating this game when it ships out in November. Here comes the goodies below! Preorder: [Red Steel]
