Rival Swords

Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: Rival Swords for the PSP is going to be an updated port of the home console version of Prince of Persia: Two Thrones. It came out last December, just like Prince of Persia: Revelations which was an updated port of Warrior Within. The PSP version will include multiplayer support where you'll be able to play in timed races as either the Prince or the Dark Prince.

The updated version will also include new chariot combat levels that don't need to be unlocked as they are available from the main menu when you first boot it up. No release date was announced, but until more information becomes available be sure to check out the first screenshots of the Prince's second outing on the PSP by clicking on the thumbnails below.

The team over at Kotaku got the list from some people that got their preorders today as they were leaving.

PSU

Our weekend treat is upon us as the Phantasy Star Universe online multiplayer open beta has finally become available in the Marketplace. Phantasy Star Universe is Sega's next game in the Phantasy Star series and with the beta you will be able to test out the MMO part of the game with everything from making your character to creating a party of you and up to five friends to explore the world of the Gurhal System and kill any monsters you lay your eyes upon.

The download is actually a lot smaller than we thought it would be - weighing in at 940.50MB. The open beta is a limited time demo which will grant you a temporary GUARDIANS License that will expire at 12:00AM on Wednesday October 18th. They should change the expiration date to October 17th since prior to ending the beta, Xbox Live will have downtime for server maintenance for 24 hours.

So if you have an Xbox Live Gold membership go ahead and check out the beta for PSU on the Marketplace; also if you want to try out the beta with one of the crew from QJ be sure to send a message to ALGEBRA as I will probably be playing it all week long.

Buy: [Phantasy Star Universe]

Doom

Once DOOM was surprisingly added to the roster of Xbox Live Arcade titles as X06, it has gotten many people wondering if more of id Software's gaming library would be coming to the arcade anytime soon. The FiringSquad actually went out of their way to find out and contacted id's CEO Todd Hollenshead to find out for themselves and 360 gamers everywhere whether or not if more of their games will be ported to the system. This is what he has to say:

"We're looking at bringing some of the other games to XLA, but a lot is going to depend on the response to DOOM. From what MS tells us, its been fantastic so far, which bodes well for other id "classics" to be released there. But there's nothing concrete. Making the surprise announcement at X06 for DOOM worked out great, so I'll be tight lipped about anything specific for now :)"

So if you're hoping for more old school first person shooters such as Wolfenstein 3D or Quake to play online with friends over Xbox Live, it looks like action will speak louder than words so everybody should start buying DOOM on the Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points - that's if you haven't already.

Phantasy Star Universe

The release of Sega's Phantasy Star Universe is only a few weeks away now and the team over at Achieve360Points have posted the achievement list for the game. Unlike the last game in the series, Phantasy Star Online, PSU will feature a full single player game along with the online MMO style gameplay mode that was introduced in PSO. The game only has eight achievements, but still adds up to the usual retail amount of 1000 gamerpoints.

All of the achievements require you to beat different chapter bosses in the game; although whether it will be just for the single player game, the online mode or both we won't know until the game hits stores. The beta download for the game should be online Xbox Live before the end of the weekend and will be playable until October 18th. So go ahead and check below for the entire achievement list.
  • (100) De Ragan Slayer - Defeat the Chapter 3 boss.
  • (100) Onmagoug Slayer - Defeat the Chapter 5 boss.
  • (100) Adahna Degahna Slayer - Defeat the Chapter 7 boss.
  • (100) De Ragnus Slayer - Defeat the Chapter 8 boss.
  • (100) Magas Maggahna Slayer - Defeat the Chapter 9 boss.
  • (100) Dimmagolus Slayer - Defeat the Chapter 11 boss.
  • (200) Dulk Fakis Slayer - Defeat the Chapter 12 boss.
  • 200) Dulk Fakis 2 Slayer - Defeat the last boss.

Burger King

The King's arrival to Xbox 360 gets closer as only a few more weeks are left until the three Burger King games will be available for purchase (while you pick up a Whopper). The team over at Achieve360Points has posted the achievement lists for the two racing type games that the King will be in - Big Bumpin and Pocketbike Racer. Each of the games has 12 achievements that add up to the usual arcade amount of 200 gamer points.

The achievements range from winning games over Xbox Live to completing tournaments. The levels in the Pocketbike Racer game include a BK restaurant parking lot, a construction site, a backyard, the King's garden, and the fabled Fantasy Ranch set. The only thing that would make it even better would be if Hootie was a playable character so we can all relive the "Tender Crisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch" song. So before you wake up with the King go ahead and check below for the full achievement lists.

Big Bumpin'
  • (15) World Bump Champion - This is awarded for winning the World Bump tournament (the last tourney in the game).
  • (10) First Victory - This is awarded for being the winner in ANY game that takes place across Xbox Live.
  • (10) Slippery Like Eel - Awarded after 30 seconds without loss of health in any Last Man Standing game, online or offline.
  • (20) Mine! - Running total of points scored in games of Own The Puck played over Xbox Live equals 10 minutes.
  • (20) Outclassed! - Win a game of anything on Xbox Live without pressing "boost."
  • (20) What happened? - Finish on the winning team in any Hockey level, having only scored due to opponents own-goals.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

Almost every 2D fighting game fan knows that Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is coming to Xbox Live Arcade by now, just no one's aware exactly when. Today that changed as Midway slimmed down the timeframe for the release of the classic fighting game to some time in November.

If the game is an exact port of the arcade game that came out back in 1995, we should have access to all 22 characters to kill our friends with over Xbox Live; including the usual "kombatants" such as Scorpion, both Sub Zero's and Sonya Blade, as well as the newcomers to Mortal Kombat 3 namely Cyrax, Sector and Kabal.

Hopefully we won't have to put in the Ultimate Kombat code to access all the characters though. No price was announced for the game, but when more news becomes available we'll be sure to keep you informed.

Prey

Well it looks like anybody that still has their copy of 2K Games' Prey is in for a little treat as a whole bunch of downloadable content has hit the Xbox Marketplace. The downloads that are available include four new multiplayer maps as well as five new multiplayer characters to choose from. The characters that are available for download are Becky, Elhuit, Elite, the Hunter and Jen.
The new multiplayer maps that you'll have access to are Gravity Labs, Space Oddity, Topillogical and Tunnel Rat. The best part about all of this new content is that it is all for free, just as we reported back in September when the content was announced. So, if your're in a gravity-walking, soul-splitting mood or just want to get some extra playtime out of Prey, then be sure to check out the new content over at the Xbox Marketplace.
