Sad but true...
... you get. IMy first call to M$, I was on the phone on hold for maybe 15min but the guy said it was RROD in less than 10... had my shipping box in 5 days, and recieved a refurb about 2 1/2 weeks later.
... now getting someon who knew how to get my arcade games and DLC properly accessible on my refurb was a bit of a trial but once the idiots passed me to a non-idiot it took very little time at all (hey M$ you should include these instr w/ the refurb!!!)
I believe that 1-800-4MY-XBOX works very well for those with basic problems. My experiences however were the culmination of multiple problems stacked on top of each other. When the problem does not fit into the scripted process, it seems like no one knows where to go from there.
If youre calling in with a RROD you'll be finished very quickly since they probably get that call so much. Anything else tho takes longer.
I appreciate you helping get the word out about my problems. Hopefully someone reads this who is able to help. me get in touch with someone who can get me resolution.
so many of MS shoddy pieces of crap 360's didn't break in the first place, people wouldn't have to experience this. I will never buy a MS system within its first 2 years again...
He sounds like somebody that loves to complain.
What was his problem to begin with? DRM issues? They fixed that no problem and refunded his points. He had the problem again? How? Why him?
Sounds to me he's more concerned with his list complaining about how much time he "wasted" (probably not a problem for this loser) than getting the issue resolved.
Seriously, if they gave away MS point refunds easily, everyone would be calling in. This guy already got a refund once and they probably see that on the computer.
You're the kind of person who feels the need to spend each and every day writing long, drawn out comments on just about every news story on here. And you're calling him a loser?
Every company has bad customer service at times. This guy got nailed and has a right to complain.
Really, MCS, you amaze me with your lack of consideration for other people's problems. Is an issue an issue only if you have encountered it?
I'm just making fun of this idiot.
He spent $600 on downloadable content! Did he buy almost everything offered? While it's not that rare to have an early 360 fail, he had 3 of them fail (abuse? neglegence anyone?)
If he was smart, he would have kept the same hard drive when he swapped out the consoles and there would have been no problem. Log into XBOX live, play your games on the new console!
His list he spent so much time compiling is funny!
"Total time spent trying various remedies*: 1 day, 9 hours, 55 minutes"
That's because the idiot tried to re-download everything he had! Hmmm if the first one doesn't work, how would the rest?
There's a moral to the story here:
Don't download $600 worth of XBOX live content and keep your hard drive if you ever return the console for repair or exchange. It's not hard, just don't be a dumbass like this guy.
You always assume everything is simple. I remember we had a similar discussion in the past as well (the issue about Sony's DualShock3 surfacing at TGS, to be precise).
You don't know everything SpeakerEnder has tried. You are assuming that he spent 1.5 days just trying to re-download. Now that may be true, or he may have tried other things.
In any case, you cannot call somebody an idiot just because they did not do things the way you would have done. Are you so certain you know better than everybody else?
While I agree that returning the HDD along with the Console was a bad idea, I don't really know how MS's repair strategy works. Mine hasn't failed so far, so I don't have an idea of whether MS asks for the whole Console, or whether you can send it in sans the HDD.
On a side note: Bought Bioshock and Halo 3 LE. Playing BioShock, and it's really fun! Also expecting Heavenly Sword in a few days, and then Ratchet and Clank and... no shortage of games in the coming days, which means my wallet is going to take a hit :(
I have Heavenly Sword, it's decent even though I previously called it half assed. I'm getting Ratchet + Clank next, along with imported dualshock 3. I also registered on PSN finally! Unfortunately, I had to go to 1.93 firmware. Looks like the firmware updates are pretty much unavoidable on the PS3. I might regret this, but my username is Biznich_Bioch on PSN and XBOX live too. I just don't have any online games for PS3 yet, or internet at my house.
In response to your points:
Yes, I did buy every Xbox Live Arcade Game that came out.
As for the DRM issues, yes they fixed the problem, but then the SECOND Xbox 360 died, and they were unable to fix the problem again, since their policy changed. Sorry if that was confusing.
As for just wanting to complain? I was asked to write the article because of the implications of the DRM in my ordeal. I found that I do not own the content I purchased, but have merely been granted a license to use it as Microsoft sees fit.
Yes, I received a refund once, but, like I said, I have had 2 360's die since then. Should my content be limited because of a design defect that they have admitted to?
Negligence? Hardly. I take good care of my equipment, but I also use it regularly. The second and third 360s that died were refurbished units, so I have no idea how the previous owners treated them.
As for redownloading everything, I was told that I could not get a refund unless I attempted to redownload EVERYTHING and made a list of what didn't work. I did so, and my promised reimbursement never materialized (as of yet).
Hope that clears things up.
it was during the time before summer the repair company decide to stop doing 360 repair for M$. It was then i notice all these problem mention everywhere. To add insult to injuries, they had to ask question regarding lost credit probably due to paranoia of being scam for a third time.
Good thing my 6th 360 stop breaking 13 months ago, oh and ive played way more than back when it constantly break. My 6th refurb unit was probably broken by other cause thats not the dreaded RROD.
the second the 66% of xbots breaking down news came out i thought u bots would wize up and ditch the system..well seems like M$ still has it's complete control over your AS$....haha lol....... It seems xbots sure love to be TORTURED by M$ .....I GOT NOTHING TO SAY BUT YOU DESERVE EVERY SINGLE AS$ SPANKING FROM M$.
I feel so relieve I have a trust worthy system, that has never broken down, not a single problem with it. Namely Sony PS3. living it up on Heavenly Sword, Lair, Warhawk and adding another title with next pay check.
Owning an Xbot, the disadvantages and nightmares or it breaking and fixing HEAVILY outweighs just a one or two good games out on xbot. ....So those of you who want to spend most of your time fixing and having nightmare with your system, please keep buy another xbot after your third one breaks....I won't be suprise to how many system you can buy to replace it for a few days before the ticking time bomb goes off again.
And lastly you must be very rich to do so or U must very broke and stupid because not everyone has a wallet the size of Bill Gates....Oh i get it u must be thinking the more xbots you buy, the bigger your wallet will get and maybe to even Bill's wallet size too. lol....
Supporting the xbot is like writing to Bill Gates with a check that says this is my life savings my broke ass donated to you, please make me another xbot that will break the next day.
if your "living it up" playing heavenly sword why dont u go play that pos instead of trying to promote the PS3 on a Xbox forum. Based on your writing skills, i would say you are between the ages of 12-15. Therefore, your opinion is not important. While your working on growing up, brush up on your spelling. Clearly its Xbox and not Xbot. Of all the words you could have got that one right eh? :O
90% of the comments here are BS.
SpeakerEnder in his own words followed the correct procedure and has not been compensated and thats the story.
The fact that QJ pick up on this is a good way to help the situation not an excuse for another trivial little war. Thank god you guys are not Presidents or the world would be in a worse mess than it is right now.
