Xbox 360 - Image 1After close to two months, more details on Microsoft's Project Falcon have risen: it's a new model of the Xbox 360, built with a board that houses the Microsoft 65-nanometer chip. Said to be Microsoft's counterattack to Sony's US$ 100 price cut at the time, it seems the project is so secret that the Microsoft guys at E3 never even heard of it.

Journalist Dean Takahashi is at it again and his recent report detailed the said project. Should the news prove true, the 65-nm chip is a significant step from the former 90-nm. Not only would this mean less heat and more reliability for the console, but it will also cost less. This answers a lot of concerns that have plagued Microsoft for some months now. If the cheap chip is real, it is probably the reason Microsoft was able to implement its price slash.

The first batches of the Xbox 360 Falcon are said to currently be on their last stages in manufacturing. We'd probably get some more details and confirmation before the new models come in reportedly this fall. In case you're interested in reading the entire report, click the link below.

 » Cool!

I must be one of the lucky ones. I got mine on the launch date, and it's still running strong.

I was one of the lauch date buyers. My luck ran out in June with 3 lights blinking. I sent mine back and less than a month later I got 2 blinking lights. I am still waiting on that replacement and its been over a month. We will see what happens to this one. (sigh)

» No problem with latest 360s just like no problems with ps2 dvd drives they found the faults and fixed them simple as that

If you have the new 360 you will have no problems,if you have the older one you will still have no problems as MS has given you a free Three year guarantee.

Why even mention the first 360 now thats a thing of the past after all around 5 million PS2 had to be replaced because of the faulty dvd drive and its still in production but it was a problem and like the 360 has been fixed..

I love how they say its going to solve many problems but we don't even know how its going to play out yet. I say the small heatsinks won't work well. I mean PS3 has the 90 heatsinks and its still working great. Its not the heatsinks i think its the cooling devices.

 » no

You're dumb, the heatsink is just as important as the fan, doesn't necessarily have to be a bigger one, is better. but usually is the case.

Than tell me how the PS3 which has the same heatsinks as the 360 and its doing great, i say it has nothing to do with the heatsinks, i think for 360 its something else.

 » PS3

The PS3 is a ***** box, worth $600 and gives you back ***** all for its price. The XBOX360 has its issues, sure, but at least there are games worth playing on the system.

That Pro PS3 zombie sounds like that Lefein dude that needs to get off Sony's c0ck and see that Sony shot themselves in the foot with the PS3.

The XBOX360 ain't perfect, however the PS3 don't offer better gaming, online or interactiveness when compared to the XBOX360. The Sony is far more stable in my opinion but what's that really matter when it's system seller is a Blu-ray movie?

» Blu Ray and hddvd will mean nothing soon

The way things are going the devs look to be going toward the PC hard drive instalation of disks now that the console hard drives are getting so large.

Soon you will proberly only need One disk as most of it will be running from the HD and only small amounts from the much slower dvd/Blu ray players will be needed.

I bet MS saw this coming long ago that is why they havent gone for any type of internal HDdvd or Blu Ray type drives.

I got the Elite yesterday and it seems to have the new setup cant feel any heat at all and Bioshock what an amazing game Blue Dragon and Moto GP also released here yesterday to.
THe best thing is knowing that you have a 3 year guarantee so you cant go wrong as the time that runs out the next gen of consoles will be here.
