Seriosity and their Attent e-mail with Serios - Image 1Who said game development can't contribute to business development? We picked up another story that salutes to Blizzard's MMORPG wonder, World of Warcraft, and its inspiring virtual world economy. The start up company, known as Seriosity, plans to sport an e-mail management system called Attent which relies on virtual currency dubbed as Serios (Serio as singular).

Users of the e-mail system can do everything found in a robust enterprise e-mail system, except for one thing: they can attach "values" to their outgoing mail to emphasize the "importance" of the message's contents. There is a limited amount of Serios available for each user, so they must consume their share wisely.

So what happens if your pocket dries out? Well, that's highly unlikely, because receivers of mail do reply to the messages and insert their own value to that reply. The value signals just how important the message's content was to them or their work. The Serios placed inside the messages are kept by the receivers, allowing you to keep a good share of Serios left.

The manner in how the mail system works is nothing different from when a player asks someone to buff them in exchange for money. An employee purchases a recipient's attention by asking the person to read his message in exchange for money. In order to keep a green bottom line for your Serios balance, the highest valued messages catches the recipients' attention first.

This system is being implemented because much of the important information being passed around in a business get missed in the most unfortunate of times. This in turn costs the business a significant amount of loss. If this accounts for 10% total profit loss, saving that 10% means big bucks to multi-million dollar companies.
