World of Warcraft - Image 1With the release of the patch notes for PTR 2.3, there's bound to be some untoward reactions as much as receptive ones. One such untoward reaction comes from Penetrate, who expressed some dissatisfaction with the patch in the World of Warcraft forums. He was duly answered by Blizzard poster Nethaera.

Penetrate's complaints mention three points from the patch notes: (1) the creature AI no longer prioritizing unfeared over feared targets, (2) the requirements for Heroic Keys now lowered to Honored and (3) loot from old world dungeon bosses will now be of superior quality.

Nethaera goes through these points one by one, and finally states that there are many other "positive changes and implementations" to be enjoyed in the next patch. Here's a snippet of his response to Penetrate:

  • Currently, if you resist a fear, mobs could go right after you over anyone else. This isn't so bad if you are a class that can take the hits, but (for example) for Priests with Unbreakable Will, this could be a real issue in PvE situations if they resisted.
  • The requirement for getting into Heroics is a much better thing than you may think. We've been happy with how this system has worked, but now we are seeing more people running alt characters through these same areas, and feel that it's appropriate to lower this requirement. You haven't been ripped off. You've been given a bit of a leg up.
  • Superior quality means that they are blue items now. This will help those that are leveling up to get some slightly better items for their ascent to becoming the Heroes we know everyone can be. [...] If you want to go back in as a level 70, that's fine, but it's doubtful you're going to get more out of it than you would as an appropriate level character going through those dungeons.
