Dude, WTF? - Image 1Bronco Carson, a World of Warcraft player from Mexico, reported to police on Saturday that three men broke into his home and beat his arms with clubs and totalled his computer. The reason? Carson had been repeatedly ganking the WoW character of the wife of one of his assailants.

Carson reportedly told police that he had been "making it hard for her to get far in the game." The woman had already threatened Carson online, and Carson said that he had already been constantly harassed in-game two weeks prior to the attack.

And then Carson made the mistake of giving the woman his address, telling the woman that "if her husband was man enough to just come meet me to settle this."

The result? Carson got two broken fingers and a fractured wrist during the assault. His computer and entertainment center were also totaled by his three attackers before they left. "I knew that I might be messed with in the game but I didn't really expect her husband to come looking for me," said Carson. "I couldn't have been more wrong."

Now let this be a lesson to everybody. Taunting people behind the relative safety of the Internet may be fun, but don't be stupid enough to give out your real home address. If you do, then it's a whole new ballgame.

I love these online bullies who think they're immune to retribution in the real world. That's why I always laugh at fools when they're calling other people names and throwing insults left and right.

If you're without the means to physically defend yourself, then why are you trying to be a bully online?

Get a clue folks, some people aren't so forgiving!

 » stupid

I play WOW it is a fun game. The article states he was ganking her character repeatedly. Ganking is killing another persons character. Only hostile sides can attack each other and you have to be set to (player versus player to be attacked). So this lady had to be on player vs player server or on a player versus environment server with her character set to player versus player. Otherwise he could have never ganked her in the first place. I feel real bad for the guy and he should never given out his address. As for the women she is an idiot one for sending her husband and for setting her game play up for being attacked if she does not want to be.

There's no way this can be true, alliance/horde can't talk to each other, not even to make arrangements to talk outside the game. Anyone who plays knows this.

I have ganked lots of people fromt eh other faction repeatedly...hell it's fun! Thats what a pvp (Player vs Player) server is about. Adds another level of play to yoru game if you like that. If you don't liek that then move to a care bear server...

In terms of different factions talking to each other directly...tis true you can not do it...unless you set up another accoutn on the same server and join the same faction. ROFL!! I love when I gank someone enough they have to make a horde charcater to come tell me what an a$$ I am...I love pooring salt in the wound by responding ... iIii (flip em the bird) Wooot!! whatch the fire works start....can you say reported!! lol!

Whos your daddy!

You just gave every reason two opposing factions [could] talk. I own two accounts as-is. One for me, one for guests. Or whenever I feel like goofing off.

Actually, the alliance and horde CAN talk to each other, On most large servers there is a server wide I.R.C. Channel that players on both factions gather on to play/make arrangements, My home server (skullcrusher) Has 3 channels for this stuff, and a ton of private guild channels, we also have vent servers dedicated to cross faction communication. So if he was on a high pop older server, then its completely doable

I play WoW, and its a fun game, but seriously folks, Horde cant talk to Alliance, and the other way around. Unless they talk out of game, but then why would they bully each other. I mean I do agree with Jin Wu about the bullies on WoW, but the article is fake.

If they are first to start the mess IRL say "***** off"
turn round and walk away. If its in game say "***** off", turn round and walk away.If she's still messing with you- Kill her once prove that she's no match for you, turn round and walk away.Or just humiliate her by leaving her with 300hp, turn round and walk away.If she brings her husband - kill her husband first then leave her with 300hp , turn round and walk away =))))

Violence has always been the answer when all other options have been exhausted. I don't think 'talking about it' would have helped .. do you? *smile* -- I bet the will think twice about harrassing people in the future.

RE: How come nobody is criticizing the guys who attacked him? Since when did physical violence become an acceptable way of resolving anything?

   Re: I play (Unregistered) - 2007-05-02
 » the article states

The article states the harasment was in the form of ganking. (killing another character)

You can only kill another person in a duel. You need to agree to these.

Ganking would require you are opposite factions in the game. Alliance Vs Hord the two sides at War (World of WAR Craft)

You need to be set to Player Vs player to be ganked. So she eaither picked a player vs player server or she turned on player vs player on her character. Eaither way she made the choice to be attacked from hostile players.

I have been ganked a few times and sometimes repeatedly. I have either battled, called for help from guild members, or turned of PVP (takes 5 minutes to shut off so need to hide or respawn at a grave yard to get a way).

I'm not aware that violence ever was an acceptable way of resolving something, unless one is a patriot or a criminal.

Personally anytime I've ever resorted to violence, all that happened was that people got hurt, nothing was resolved. This guy didn't deserve to get his fingers broken for being such an imbecile, jeez, if that were the standard, what would these guys do to our president?

Unless you get hit, oddly, with some sort of aoe spell from a npc such as a training lockbox at the same moment you lose.

While he thoroughly deserved his thrashing and the destruction of his computer, the husband had no honor ganging up on him with two buddies. Were he a real man, he'd have taken care of the beating himself. Sadly very few people (especially those found online) value honor these days.

   Re: Bobby (Unregistered) - 2007-05-02
 » This article is fake

Come on anyone who has played the game knows on a pvp server which is the only one you can gank someone. You cannot talk to the other faction. The other faction is the only one you can gank so this article is obviously fake!!!

   Re: Bewbiez (Unregistered) - 2007-05-02
 » @ Morons that think you can't talk x-faction

Seriously, do you people not understand what forums are? People talk cross faction all the time.

   Re: Yo (Unregistered) - 2007-05-02
» I go with the fake

She was getting ganked in the game, obviously a different faction. So they couldn't talk in game. So if they were to communicate in a forum, they communicate via a forum, they would have had to somehow be on the same forum, somehow figure out who the other person was, and then start the threatening. So yes...people can talk on forums, but what are the odds of that? Not very likely. Besides article above didn't state that they talked over forums.

So the article is fake. Very entertaining, very fun and very fake. Come to think of it, the game is also fake (surprise!), very entertaining and very fun, but still fake.

Come on everyone! Enjoy the game, enjoy the article.
