1One familiar line from the movie Vanilla Sky goes "Even in the future, the sweet is never as sweet without the sour." We know gamers invest a lot of money and time for questing and leveling up their characters. It is indeed, hard work. There are a few however, who prefer the easy, fast and forbidden road. They use exploits and they use cheats. Take note however, that this doesn't come without repercussions.

Take for example what happened to WoW guild Overrated - one of the most promising group of gamers that play the game (their guild's been playing the level of the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj AQ40). This specific dungeon level map progresses in a somewhat circular manner. Easier and less valuable bosses are in the outside echelon while the hard-to-defeat ones are heavily protected inside.2

Other players were astonished to the point of doubt on how Overrated easily conquered the level and defeated final boss C'thun. Rather puzzled themselves, Blizzard Entertainment took a closer look and discovered that the guild was actually cheating. According to forum postings on WoW-related forums, Overrated members used an exploit that essentially knocked down walls. In short, they literally bypassed the other bosses.

After everything has been proven, Blizzard then handed out its judgment: Overrated is permanently banned, never to return to Azeroth. Let his then be a lesson to all of you. Hard work does pay off. Just keep on doing what you're doing and you'll eventually be rewarded.
