World of Warcraft's Winter Veil not going as smoothly as planned - Image 1

We've got two new World of Warcraft Winter Veil updates for you guys, and they have everything to do with the goodies you'll be picking up for Christmas. The first update has to do with the Christmas hats that are supposed to drop off bosses in Outland and Azeroth. The second one has to do with crafting recipes you're supposed to get in the mail, and it seems not everyone got a Winter Veil recipe in the mailbox.

First off are the Christmas hats. MMO-Champion notes that the Red and Green Christmas hats are already dropping off of bosses, when the original announcement was that they'd start dropping on December 25. If you're lucky you can grab one now, so long as you have a party to go out hunting with.

Furthermore, it seems grabbing these hats is a scaled affair, meaning that level 60 and 70 players have to defeat bosses befitting their current level, so level 70 players can't take a quick jaunt to Azeroth to get hats off of the level 60-something bosses there.

Once again, below are the places where you can grab specific hats for both Azeroth and Outland:

Winter Veil bosses of Azeroth
  • War Master Voone (Blackrock Spire) - Red Winter Hat
  • Emperor Dagran Thaurissan (Blackrock Depths) - Red Winter Hat
  • Cannon Master Willey (Stratholme) - Red Winter Hat
  • Goraluk Anvilcrack (Blackrock Spire) - Green Winter Hat
  • Prince Tortheldrin (Dire Maul) - Green Winter Hat
  • Darkmaster Gandling (Scholomance) - Green Winter Hat
Winter Veil bosses of Outland
  • Captain Skarloc (Escape from Durnholde Keep) - Red Winter Hat
  • Nethermancer Sepethrea (The Mechanar) - Red Winter Hat
  • High Botanist Freywinn (The Botanica) - Red Winter Hat
  • Grand Warlock Nethekurse (Shattered Halls) - Green Winter Hat
  • Grandmaster Vorpil (Shadow Labyrinth) - Green Winter Hat
  • Exarch Maladaar (Auchenai Crypts) - Green Winter Hat
Second, we have the issue with the Winter Veil recipes. According to a post on the WoW forums, it seems the Winter Veil recipes weren't being properly sent out.

Blizzard Poster Syndri noted that they were working on fixing the problem, though it seems that they're figuring out the criteria needed for people to actually get specific goodies this year, much like Santa trying to figure out who's naughty or nice:

We're currently investigating this matter - quite avidly, to be brutally honest - and hope to reach a solid answer shortly; until then, we will be unable to directly assist any players who have not yet received Winter Veil patterns or recipes, as we must establish baseline requisites before providing such items to the public.

Once more, you have my most sincere apologies for leading you astray; nonetheless, our intent has not changed - we still wish to ensure that all those deserving of these patterns and recipes acquire them - though our method of "attack" has altered slightly for the time being.

While you're waiting for the fixes to be implemented for the Winter Veil recipes, why not visit some instances to grab those hats in the meantime? If you'd like to find out more about the Winter Veil recipe issue, feel free to check the forum link below.
