World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade - Image 1Confused about the realm population designations? A player named Hamppstar of Jaedenar posted on the World of Warcraft Forums about the low and high population "lies." We've heard so much about long server queues and the two basic ways of alleviating the problem - free character transfers and the creation of new realms. Today's WoW Forums discussion centers on realm tags.

According to the opening post, most low population servers "will go up to medium" during peak hours, but if you did a census two hours prior (when it was still at "low") the numbers would only be 100 people less than that of peak hour population. Blizzard poster Drysc dropped by the said thread and clarified the issue:

The realm population designations always have been relative to player population on other realms on that same site (battlegroup).

The only exceptions being the full and recommended tags which are placed there.

The blue poster added that the designations give players an idea of where a realm's population stands relative to other realms in the same battlegroup. Drysc reiterated that the realm population designations don't provide "precise population tracking." There you go folks, stay tuned for more World of Warcraft news and info.
