You need not be a genius or a sociologist to know that there are so many things that are wrong with the world today. There is AIDS, famine, terrorism, corruption...the list goes on and on. With that, scientists and researchers need all the adequate and up-to-date technological resources to be able to alleviate the situation and even eradicate the problem.

This is where the LambdaTable enters the picture. It is a high-resolution, tiled LCD table, and interaction device developed at the Electronic Visualization Lab- University of Illinois at Chicago. This concept already has a working prototype (see video) and the system merges table interaction and tangible user interfaces with the said tiled display technology. According to the researchers of this contraption, "it is to be used to investigate multi-user, multi-modal interaction over a shared visualization 'sandbox' using a variety of physical data manipulation tools."

With that, the goal of the researchers is to provide scientists with a new method of visualizing, understanding, manipulating, sharing, presenting, and analyzing their high-resolution data. If ever this will be implemented, then the usual manner of presenting studies or developmental plans could be scrapped.

In the future, most of the studies neet not be written in jargoned languages that only the intellectuals will understand because with the use of the LambdaTable, they could present images and visuals that could be understood by an ordinary person. Plus, it is not a boring way of presenting a thesis, an action plan, or an organizing approach.

Hopefully, this kind of innovation will not get stuck in the drawing table. If it suffers that fate, it would be such a big waste not only for the scientists and researcher but also for the poor, depressed, and oppressed sectors of our society.

 » good stuff...

I hop that this kind of invention spread soon...its going to be one expensive piece of machine n the only downside of this is that people may focus more and spend more on planning than on implementation...hope not..

By the way nyc article, it seems that the one who wrote this has some experience on research or study presentations
