Splinter Cell: Conviction - Image 1Wondering why Ubisoft isn't bringing Splinter Cell: Conviction (PC, Xbox 360) to the PS3? Wonder no more cos they gave a very straightforward answer at their Q&A Forums, and the long and short of it is: a PS3 version will remain to be a wishful thinking.

Here's why:

Splinter Cell: Conviction is a true Microsoft exclusive title and there are no plans to have Splinter Cell Conviction on other platforms. There are several reasons behind this choice.

First of all, Splinter Cell games are historically linked with Microsoft platforms. The first Splinter Cell on the original Xbox was one of the first games to fully exploit the console’s technical possibilities. At that time, Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a “link of heart” between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance).

The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support.

You may not necessarily agree with their reasons, but yeah, we're not getting it on the PS3. Too bad. Would've probably looked great too.

Its like Metal Gear Solid 4 and PS3 except this is a game with much less demand. You wont see Sony busting their arse to get one of these on their system. Good games though.

Yup, Splinter Cel is essentially MS's Metal Gear....and I actually think the plot is done better....yet, none of the splinter cel's stand up to MGS4 in terms of gameplay and options.....maybe conviction will.

haha people are getting so worked up in the comments,

people complaining about fanboys, (xbots and pishpots)? whatever they are +S

other people blabbering about technical stuff i don't understand.

i read somewhere down there /// that someone is like 40 years old or something.

it would be so funny to see all these people meet up in real life and have a big punch up.

bunch of silly gooses

» I can agree with their choice

It was just like how Kojima productions did with Metal Gear. I'm not exactly sure with the "link of heart" thing, but Kojima productions found it better to work on one console to optimize the game. Don't blame the devs for feeling that way. At least it'll probably come out good, cause I remember playing most of the past splinter cells and they weren't that great in my opinion. So hopefully they can push out a decent game this time around.

Guess I'm lucky I have a PC though.. Steam has the game in their store for a future release so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get it that way if I want.

i take that as if it was for ps3, it'd probably look better.

It would look better. Face it, the ps3 has power and graphics impossible on the Xbox 360. I mean, it's pretty safe to say that Uncharted 2 and GOW3 are impossible on the Xbox 360.

   Re: gio2009 - 2009-06-20
 » JOshISPoser

oh wow seriously? the only people i see that are ignorant are ps3 fanboys.
i cant think of one ps3 fanboy that had any other reason that the ps3 is better without using the words metal gear solid or free online.

One thing i have noticed that ps3 fanboys including sony themselves have stop using is "cell processor" because back then that was all that was used to have the leading edge over 360 and pc. But what happened to that? why did people stop using it?
oh thats right, its because it was already proven that the cell only had an advantage in computer software and NOT in gaming. Thats why ps3 has multiple games where they only run 30 fps, or anti aliasing is terrible.
As said, the cell is not optimal for gaming as it is for computer software.
I like the ps3, i used to have one. But now i have an xbox 360 and from the time i sold my ps3, there has not been one exclusive that made me wish istill had a ps3 today.
Alot of decent ps3 exclusives are already coming out on the psp and look identical in terms of gameplay, hmmmm what does that say?

   Re: Kaden - 2009-06-20
 » Hey Gio2009

I am no fanboy here, but ps3 fanboys are not the only ignorant ones. There are ALOT of 360 ones. I've seen both sides here go at it and it is not pretty. I think it is wrong to say only ps3 fanboys are ignorant.

On that note, I have owned a 360 and ps3 at the same time, till i sold my 360. Opposite of you, I enjoyed my ps3 more then the 360.

I am glad though, You like your system for their software lineup and what it has to offer, and I enjoy mine for the same reason.

One last thing though, I do enjoy the fact that I do not have to pay for online on the console. but the games like uncharted, uncharted 2, LBP, inFamous, burnout paradise (i know, its multi) and GT5 are the reason I play this system. not JUST cuz of free online.

   Re: gio2009 - 2009-06-20
 » kaden

see i respect people like you. You side on one system and dont make it your top priority to defend your console. im like that but i have somewhat of a short temper and when people turn to the ignorant side of the fanboys. it just really messes me up.
I mean numbers speak for themselves, ps2 was far ahead foir its time. i loved my ps2, but the ps3 was a bit of a dissapointment seeing as how alot of exclusives on the ps2 would have been great for the ps3 didnt make it. My one major concern is how the system around ps3 works. throw in a new IP, make it sell, throw out another new IP and make all the owners get used to another new IP. More people want sequals rather than new IP. We c basically say that motorstorm wasnt all that great. New IP as i said. but look at how people are going nuts over a metal gear solid sequal! In the long run, i really do think IMO that sony hasnt made the smartest moves this generation, and that the wii hit the big dollars and the 360 hit in the big software sells. As said from activision with that lame threat to drop the ps3.....
thats just my opinion, not saying its entirely true
but lets reason with each other and NOT start a flame war!!

so you play Ps3, woop-de-*****ing-do! Most people have used all three systems at some point or other so I don't understand the *****ing that goes on between fanboys, Xbot's or Pishpot's??

The ignorance is trying to declare yourself superior when displaying inferior argument. Just waving your ***** about shouting " my console's Dad can beat up your console's Dad " is not grounds for intellectual superiority no matter how much you want it to be.

Before you ask, I play all 3, I'm 40 and I have a fantastic sex life with my wife thankyou very much, unlike you by the sounds of things who just seem to be around the 18 year old know-it-all age who looks longing into his palm while calmly smoking a cigarette declaring, " was it good for you too, darling? When you criticize people because of their age, it only shows how "mature", you really are.

" I'm 40 and I have a fantastic sex life with my wife thankyou very much"

Gee thanks for sharing something irrelevant to this topic. I want to share something too. I'm 64 and an alcoholic. Presto! See I can do that as well. I also think console wars are ridiculous, but I don't go advertising my sex life to "prove" anything. in fact you getting "laid", is a natural thing to do, ESPECIALLY expected at your married wrinkled ass age. Good luck with that one chick though and get as much as you can because even your hand will put you down for "entertainment" one day. Bye grandpa! Don't forget to take your medication. I never understood it either, most of the fanboys on here take this sh*t personally or something. Always crying about something. Sony and MS fans alike

   by Navani - 2009-06-20
» Couple reason why I own two systems

1) I can play any exclusive if I want to

2) Modded my 360 so I play online on PS3.. People say Xbox live is better but I don't do the movie crap or any of that, all I do is play games and most of the 360 exclusives are FPS, and since I'm not a big fan of those anyway.. Basically, any game I don't want to play online or is single player is on 360, any other game PS3. Both are fun systems, do their jobs well, and the competition between the two just make things better usually.

   by killjoy13 - 2009-06-20
 » Time...

With as much time as you all spend complaining about which system is better, and whether or not PS3 owners girlfriends have nicer racks than the XBOX360 owners gf's, when do any of you actually USE these systems you defend and bash with such passionate ignorance?
But alas, sound reason is something fanboys/girls were born without. It's like a genetic deficiency in the womb. Has to be the hours of mind numbing 80's cartoons we watched when we were kids. And in turn we passed it on, ever genetically stronger, to the next generation of budding fanpeople(?is this pc?) and so on and so on.
What's my point?
STFU and play some video games.
Now what's this article about? ;-P

   Re: ahnp - 2009-06-20
 » right

and whats that got to do with the article, we all get annoyed with fanboys thinking they know everything but its no reason to be like that, and unlike most here im gonna comment on the actual article, it seems a silly thing to isolate themselves to 1 console, this is what they said to capcom and they understood, like their going to make so much money putting it on the next gen console where m$ are pretty much boned in terms of modded boxes, you dont see piracy yet on the ps3 but their will be alot of copys floating about but exclusivity is exclusivity, to be honest it always looked like a mgs clone mixed with rainbow six.

 » Splinter Cell is Microsoft?

I have a 360 as well as a PS3 so I'm not one of those whiney little kids who complain about exclusives.. but the interview is very very wrong. It started out multiplatform and whatnot, and the only reason it's a 360 exclusive now is because microsoft would've paid them a few hundered million rofl.

But seriously I think the only reason is that they cant make the game good enough for the PS3 and utilize all of the PS3's stuff. If you compare Double Agent on both consoles you'll notice the 360 one was a lot better and thats nothing to do with the graphics or hardware of either system, its all down to Ubisoft's Splinter Cell team failing to code for the PS3 and giving up

Why do companies always give some Bull.S story why they made their game an exclusive for xbox. Okay maybe what ubisoft said maybe true but we all know that’s not the whole story, cuz I’m sure M.S’s big fat check didn’t persuade them at all.

Companies that make exclusives of xbox just go where the money is, like BioWare, Epic Games & Bethesada(Fallout3 DLC). But companies who develop for Sony like Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, CyberConnect2, Insomniac ect have heart, stickin with the ps3 even if its 3rd in the current market. Those devs aint gold-digger’s like Namco Bandai(Ace Combat 6). I just don’t get Namco Bandai, after all those years building up the Ace Combat name on playstation then just go and abandon sony by makin Ace Combat 6 an xbox exclusive.

Have no heart, They are part of Sony... They do what they're told

   Re: Stevo Style - 2009-06-20
 » Are UU An Arse?

Bungie was apart of Microsoft. "They did what they're told". Now they are an independent company, they are free 2make games for other consoles.

Polyphony Digital, Insomniac, Naughty Dog are all apart of Sony but they can leave after the contract is up. But they didn't did they. Thats because they care more about their customers than money.

So they DO have heart

   Re: NarooN - 2009-06-20
 » @kraft

Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Guerilla Games, etc. are all 1st party devs, but they don't ride Sony's *****. They can leave whenever they feel, and they've all said they develop on the system they're comfortable with doing so.

It's the same with Bungie, Nintendo, etc.

um...no i'm just my own account but seriously he makes a better point than all of you combine, the game basically isn't release for any other platform because it will save time for just one and let alone give it its own graphics, and the game being made just for one console making it easier for the company to make and not make changes for each console and also save money .... they choose only 360 because its much easier than ps3 even tho ps3 dev got that cool and easier program to make games... no flamin or fanboism but i own a ps3 and seriously for once i agree on someone who doesn't blab about 360 has all this and ps3 doesnt and that stuff all consoles are same they all have their advantages and disadvantages and what not but still they're just gaming consoles no need for this whole fanboy war and what not......

think about it, the second reason they give makes a little sense, because aren't they the ones who made "haze" the biggest failure for "them".
