Not too long after a British Cabinet Minister encourages video games, we have US Prosecutor Kym Worthy condemning violent video games. She even lists down her 10 most violent games, specifying what she found disturbing about them, adding that parents should avoid buying them, and keep kids from playing them."The last year has convinced me more than ever that children are at risk of becoming desensitized to violence and can exhibit more aggressive behavior if they repeatedly play certain violent video games," Worthy said. The games she cited, however, are rated M by the ESRB, and the appropriate marketing and advisory have been put into effect. Here they are:

» Surprised
I'm surprised she didn't name GTA IV. Usually even with the game appearing tamer than other gorier Mature titles, it often takes the cake in video game legislature.

Put a spoiler warning before the Silent Hill one. I wasn't going to play the game, but I found it disappointing that there wasn't a warning.

» Good o'l ass whipping
Most of these kids that commit these crimes need to have their asses whipped, if mommy and daddy had but a little spank on that ass the might have turned out better. Parents have to be involved in what their kids are into. As a parent and a gammer I limit what they can play for their age, and if they get out of line they know what is going to happen daddy's going to tear that ass up. parents have to take responsibility for there kids and stop putting the blame others and media.

The only thing that makes this game violent is people made they actually bought the game.

Half of those games are about things that will probably never happen.
Yes one day we will have zombies all over the city and we will know what to do.

» How is that relevant
The games are violent, that is all the list is about... Violent games kids should not play. So wtf are you talking about?
It's a pretty good list too, nobody under say 11 or 12 should play these games. L4D might be alright because it's mostly just harmless fun, but Silent Hill, Far Cry, Fallout and Blitz are way too graphic for kids.

» MY LIST
Well here is my list of games to aviod and reasons.
1, Pacman, It makes it ok to pop pills and you see ghosts.
2, Space Invaders, You shoot spaceships with real people in them and they explode and die
3, DigDug, Its ok to dig really deep holes. When you do that in real life you get buried alive.
4, Mario, you jump on people which can cause serious injury and death.
5, I've come to a blank but there has to be more games that fit in my list thats a lot more funnier than her list. :)
Oh, has she actually played those games? I bet NOT!. If not then SHUT UP! You dont have a clue what your going on about. It looks like you've read what the box advertises and seen the pics on the box and taken it all out of context. Games are never what they say and never look like what they advertise. (You can be in the exact same spot it shows in the box and it looks different.)

» mario?
While I agree with your list for the most part, Mario does NOT jump on people. He does however take hallucogenic mushrooms which make him think he's a giant. If you want another bad game to add, pokemon. It encourages you to raise vicious pets that will attack other animals for the sole purpose of being able to cage them up in your balls, so that you can more easily imprison even stronger wild animals. Oh, and when you get tired of that, you can have your animals fight your friends' animals for entertainment.

i can see how you can associate the games with violence, but in reality, the chances of that creating violence in people arnt really enough to say that thats the whole problem... after all there are abnormal people in the world, but that doesnt mean that games create violence. if you look at the amount of people who kill that has to do with a video game, there are people who kill that DONT have to do with gaming at all, imo its all the persons fault, not the games... yes it may give them ideas, but in reality...
Some1s not going to go kill some1 thinking "Hey im going to go kill some1 cuz i saw it on GTA"... people kill because of the person there killing(not saying that the person being killed deserves it even tho it sounds that way...) but anyways people kill because they are angry not because they saw it on Saints Row....i mean cmon ppl, you cant blame inanimate objects for the killers doing

» More to it.
I think there is much more to it really. I mean, I didn't really start playing violent video games until I was well into my teens because you could hardly call batman on the mega drive II violent. But now, at 21, I have ben playing violent games through some of the most influential ties of my life, and I think a few of those could be counted as really violent.
But Yet I have never been agressive in my life, I don't even feel the need, I have rarely ever raised my voice let alone ever been physically agressive to anyone, without exception.
I have played the complete, banned, uncencored version of Manhunt 2. My uni friends and I sat around and laughed at it, should I now be going round cutting of peoples heads with a spade?
I don't know if its linked to level of education, or when or where people play these games but as far as I see they have no effect at all.
In fact, the games that get me the most agressive are the stupid puzzle ones that i have to reply about 20 times cause i cant get past 1 stupid level. Or sonic on the PS3 where i played through like 3 levels to find that because i suck at it, when i got game over i had to start from the beginning because of not been able to save yet. I threw y controller on the floor and turned it off. Well, turned it off first, and decided to watch Dexter instead. Oh wait, maybe I should be a serial killer too because my favourite TV show is Dexter.
Even as a totally non violent person, that finds real life violence unacceptable, these games are still just games to me, blowing off peoples heads in Farcry 2, taking drugs to increase our strength in Haze, getting prostitutes in GTA, this is entertainment, it makes me laugh, and normally it's something for my friends and i to have a joe about how creatively funny these games are.
Words elude me as to how or why it could be possible for these games to affect people in such a way without them having some other pretty compelling problems in their lives, i mean, that kid in america kills his parents over Halo 3?
When it comes down to it, if games are really a part of the cause, we need to remember that they have age ratings, and they are there for a reason. I'm not sure the rating on Halo 3, but if it's higher than 16, maybe the person that sold the kid the game is at fault. If not, then its the parents fault for raising such a little ***** with no regard for human life. They should put him in the US military, at least he has shown he can kill without remorse.

» OMFG!!!
I've written about this too many times...
Violent (name your medium) DOES NOT promote violence.
Studied it, wrote about it, there simply is no denying it...
Only prolific exposure to ACTUAL violence has an effect on said person. And it is actually the OPPOSITE of acting out violently.
These kind of bleeding hearts aren't saving anyone but their own political careers and forcing their biased opinions down our throat.
Our society needs to stop herding like cattle and call these people out on their BS.
