Homebrew developer Sakya has released a homebrew version of the popular "Triple Triad" game featured in Final Fantasy VIII (for the Playstation).

Triple Triad is a simple card game that involves obtaining as many of the opponents cards as possible, using a number system. It can be quite strategic and from my own personal experience of playing the original Playstation version, very addictive.

This version (v0.1.0) incorporates all of the graphics and gameplay of the original in a user-friendly environment. Although at the moment, your card deck is randomly chosen.

It has been developed using the PSP Python programming language and works as a general game.
Triple Triad is compatible with PSP Firmware v1.50.

Thanks to PSP Brew, I am able to play a number of great homebrews on my 2.6 using the GTA eLoader. However, it doesn't always work. But for this game it worked like a charm.
How how I love this homebrew. FF8 is my favorite. I loved the mini game in the game and I love this one. It translates very well, feeling like the game itself. I suck at this mini as I did in the FF8 game though.

 » YYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!

THIS IS GREEEEEEEAAAAAAATTTTTT!!!!!!

When Sony said they would be selling past PS1 games for the PSP I was thinking about actually getting FFVIII JUST for this triple triad thing...!!!!!

I really hope it works with the GTA firmware 2.0+ exploit.

Thank you very much!!

 » Brings back memories

I loved this game in FF7.. in fact, I basically based the whole game around it after beating it once lol. So freaking fun and addictive. Good job! Does it actually have the same deck function in-between card games? So you could actually build up the deck and stuff?

 » FF8

This was from FF8 actually. I know I'm going to get flamed or whatever, but I was once called AppledBlood Candystaff on the PSPUpdates forums before I was perma-banned and suggested this idea for Devs to try out. My thread was locked because it was branded a "request"...but I don't care, I think this is still a good idea and I hope they continue to update this wonderful homebrew. :)

For those who don't believe me. And no, I'm not trying to get credit for this in ANY way. I'm just happy someone actually put it together for the community. Great job!

 » Figures

Figures I updated to 2.7 that stupid flash player sucks balls.

The 1st time i felt really disapointed for updating. I liked the Browser and crap so updated to 2.0, I liked the RSS so I freely updated to 2.6, I really wanted the flash player so i updated to 2.7, too bad that the flash sucks ass on the psp

   by Gamerdude (Unregistered) - 2006-04-28

Awsome I liked the FFVIII mini game! Oh sucks for the suckers who updated to 2.7 !

 » awesome!

They should now work on uber-encrypting a game save file and start to make it multiplayer!

 » to the developer

if u implant music into it maybe u could find a way for any1 to place any song they want in a file and rename it so it would play while ur playing the game. other than that its great and good job

 » this is super cool

 » enable background sound

I could not wait for bg sound so downloaded some nice ambient sound from modarchive.com and added these 2 lines to main.py in line 153 just before while True:

self.bcksound = pspsnd.Music("themes/" + self.userData.THEME + "/celtic.xm", 128, True)
self.bcksound.start()

and voila, really cool game with background music

 » belab's music addition

Does that particular piece of code only work with .xm files and not mp3's?

if so, what are xm files?

also, can i change the directory for the music file to be something simple like "themes/music.mp3" isntead of what you got there?
