Still hunting for a PS3 or Wii? Your chances of spending Christmas Day with the console of your dreams just went up. In a press release, Toys "R" Us announced the chain is expecting a huge motherload of the two consoles and the Xbox 360 by December 22. The store's next-gen console stock list includes:
  • More than 30,000 Xbox 360
  • More than 6,000 PS3
  • Thousands of Wii
Toys "R" Us is serving up a special PS3 Sports Bundle (20GB - US$ 899.92 / 60GB - US$ 999.92) which includes a Chillstream Controller, Tiger Woods '07, Tony Hawk Project 8, Madden NFL '07, Ridge Racer 7, NBA 2K7, and NHL 2K7.

On the Wii side, you have a choice of the Wii Action Bundle 1 (US$ 589.92) and 2 (US$ 589.92 and US$ 539.93, respectively) and the Wii Kids and Family Bundle (US$ 489.94).

To accommodate holiday shoppers, Toys "R" Us stores across the U.S. will open 8 a.m. until midnight on December 22 and from 7 a.m. through midnight on December 23. In case the stores run out of the next-gen consoles, you can opt for Nintendo's GameBoy Advance (40,000+ units), T.M.X. Elmo (65,000+ units,) or CARS Character Car Assortment (350,000+ units). Looks like Santa's elves have been working hard this year.

Merry Christmas Eve 'RY' One!

Was at a local Target in Worcester MA today...Have PS3's in stock. Sales person said they were put on shelf Sunday, no one showing interest at all. The Wii is sold out. Seems that between the press of "you won't get one before Christmas" and the obsurd price (it's good for the tech, but bad for the product...Sony should have re-thought the strategy), it might not be too hard to find a PS3 afterall.

I was at my local Walmart yesterday and I heard someone asking for a Wii...then a ps3...then finally a 360. The dude had to settle for a 360 since there were 9 in stock on the shelves.

PS3s in all the stores in my area are sold out and I had people standing in line at my store sunday morning for both Wiis and PS3s. PS3s are still in high demand.

If so how many PS3's did they have?

It's a shame they're only selling them in bundles. I guess eBay should do the trick.

» I Got Lucky At Gamestop

On Thursday I went into a Gamestop to look around during a day of Christmas shopping just to check out some games, and before I got out of my car a UPS truck pulled up to the front of the store. I got out of my car to go inside and the UPS driver was carefully watching me. I was wondering though what he was delivering but I did not think to much more into it. During the 20 minutes or so I was there the phone rang maybe 10 times and I can tell by what the store employee was saying that these people were looking for a Nintendo wii. I kept looking around and did not find anything I wanted to buy at that time but before I left the store I asked the store employee when they may have more Playstation 3s and wiis and that guy told me that they have no more wiis but they just received 3 60gig Playstation 3s if I wanted one. So I did get a Playstation 3 that day and I just want to let you guys out there know that look everywhere, because you never know what you will run into unsuspectingly. The employee at that Gamestop said that he was pretty surprised that they been getting regular shipments even though they were a small store!

 » exactly

The same thing happened to me at Gamestop. I walked in asking if they had a wii and they didnt. As I was walking out a ups guy was walking in with boxes. I asked the gamestop clerk if that could be a new shipment of wiis. He said "more than likely, I cant think of anything else it could be". Turns out it was 4 60 gig ps3s. Me and him were shocked at this, and I walked away with a 60 gig ps3. I went back yesterday and he said they've been getting an almost daily flow of 2 - 4 60 gig ps3s but they've only gotten one shipment of wiis in the past two weeks. Granted, the shipment of wiis they got was 30 but still, I can not believe it is so hard to find a wii and almost a breeze to walk away with a ps3. Since that day, i've bought 4 60 gig ps3s for family and friends and yet none of us havea wii : (

Still cool none the less. I enjoy my PS3. I just can't wait for games like Heavenly Sword, Armored Core 4, Metal Gear 4 and Final Fantasy XIII. Not to take away from games like The Darkness and Assassins Creed, as those will be awesome as well.

» Not True, or so they say

Just called my Toys R Us, they said that the shipment of Wii's I waited for 3 hours for was the last one they were getting before christmas, can we have a link to the press release?

   Re: Spector - 2006-12-18
 » the grunts

True this could very well not be completely true, but you also have to consider the fact that the guy answering phones at your local store isn't the most informed guy ever.

Even at stores such as gamestop they don't know the true details of even their own sales till the day they happen because corporate headquaters does their own thing. It's this way with much of big business across the country.

Just wait a little have these kind of things make their way down to the guys in the stores. I'm sure it's not completely false.

How is that a mother load? they own 587 stores. So if they get 6k ps3 thats 10 per store. Your a misleading moron.

 » I am an idiot

So, I initally had the Wii reserved, I was like the 3rd person in line. Then the HD-DVD for Xbox 360 came out, I took off my preorder, and now when I want the Wii, I had to get back on the list...behind 36 other people. I think I'm going to repeatedly blow my brains out over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over...and over. Yeah.

 » Manager Comments

Here is a new wrinkle. I just spoke to a Toy R Us manager who admiited that there are more Wii's in the pipeline. However, he said that latest word that he got was that their distribution centers were not getting them until the 22nd or the 23rd. He was told by the distribution office that they won't be able to get them in stores prior to X-MAS. :-(
