If people are so hard up on spending a measly $50 on a game then why not just sign up for a rental service? $10 a month for 3 rentals and you can keep them out as long as youd like.

Only time will time if this will have a positive or negative affect on the platform.

Everyone that hacked their console had to realize that if they use xbox live they are going to risk getting banned. You can't be mad at MS for protecting there investment when the rules are black and white.

O dear, better keep my wireless adaptor out of the 360 a little longer. honestly thought, If you didnt see it coming a mile away one the Halo 3 beta then you need your head examined. Strap it to something you know no one will resist.
So is it detecting DISKS or FIRMWARE? I.E, can I still use market place? Need a fix for this before forza 2!
O, and FYI, if 95% of the 3 million consumers are paying legititmatly, I can sleep at night.

People who have modded their 360s cant complain, You have had a good run and MS could of got you long ago, expect Sony to announce it from day One of when the first PS3 modchips arrive because you dont pay to go online so they have nothing to lose by banning you even quicker..

Well isn't this another earthshaker. I mean it was already know that microsoft knows your consoles serial number. After all those that got their xbox 360 replaced in garantuee had to go through the process of trying to reclaim the spend points!
Then how hard would it be for microsoft to recognize cracked firmware? Not that hard really!
This moves just shows that they mean it and that you are stuck with the things microsoft makes possible for you. Wich I agree..is allot of good! The online service is great! Those that copy games though cut deep in the revenue of not only "big bad" microsoft but ..also those compagnies that code your games :(
Nowadays to make a game that looks great on one of the next-gen consoles is very very expensive! And those that crack consoles just to run copied games ( why else do they crack a console! ) finally got their awnser :) No more Live for you!

I can't believe people are slating MS for banning their modded console. They caught you doing something you shouldn't have been....no-ones fault but you're own.
People that are whining about being banned you should just think yourselves lucky they didn't brick your 360's.

I'm not outraged, It was so obviously coming and I did get almost a year of online for games which I did not support the publisher. The hacked firmware I flashed came with a clear warning to 'use on xbox live at own risk' so there was fair warning. I do understand why MS is taking a zero tolerance attitude even tho a perm ban is a bit harsh because I may have considered reverting to the original firmware and purchasing games for the xbox live feature but at the price of a new console I do not think so. In conclusion MS has some big balls and I have no big beef with em like the previous post says it could have been worse and they could of bricked us then we would have nothing. peace!

oh well - gonna wait a few days & see if someone can come-up with a hack that allows you to play on live - that would be something.
i feel cheated coz my XBL membership ran out yesterday & i renewed it & 2day i got banned [thats £40 down the drain]
oh yeah - i'll return my console back to the shop & swap for a new one [if a hack doesn't come out soon] & flash it when everything is sorted :D

You realise that they will probably check to see if the console works and can connect to Live, right? When it fails they will not buy it from you in all likelihood.
I have to buy a new core system tomorrow (only $240 since I live in Japan where they are pretty cheap) and will use it for legit online play - and keep the old modded one for single player only antics. ^___^

I'm not sure if they check Live on the console (probably), but even if they don't when they sell it and the person who bought it has a problem with it you will probably get a phone call from that shop.
Oh and if you were thinking about eBay, not disclosing the little fact that it is perma-banned from Live in the auction description would be illegal, and you would get in one heck of a mess with eBay, PayPal, and your credit card company when the buyer disputes the charge.

Good job. It pisses me off that people are getting games for free or an extremely small price and even playing them on Live. We pay good money for a full priced game to support some extremely good developers out there.
Its a joke when people start trying to cheat developers. It wouldnt annoy me as much if you couldnt play online, but because they have full features of the real games it pisses me off.

But now theres no point in buying them if i cant play online, so cancelled my subscription and will only download games from now on, no big deal, still have system link on local.

I got 2 console ... one with a ms 25 drive and the other wuth a ms28 flashed with te latest version of the firmware. Only the ms28 drive havent been banned... somebody can tell me if it's only the ms25 drive that get banned
