Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - Image 1

Despite being released only within the last week of October, Guitar Hero III shot up to the top of the charts. Because of its monumental success, Activision was ranked as the leading publisher by the data provided by the NPD group for the month of October.

Even though Halo 3 still claimed first place on the NPD charts, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC) still dominated, having three of the five consoles it was released in claiming the next three spots after first place.

The release of the game caused Activision's market share to jump 28.7% and according to analysts, the rise helped give the October sales a solid standing even though other titles didn't perform as well as expected.
