Charger Bracelet for handhelds and mobile phones available from Thanko - Image 1

Has this ever happened to you: after spending hours on road playing your favorite handheld RPG, you've finally reached the final dungeon containing the big, bad boss intent on ruling the world and the only way stopping him is you and your brave companions. And just when you're about to deal the final blow, your handheld's battery suddenly runs out. We would definitely call it a gamer's emergency, wouldn't you?

Japanese accessories maker Thanko is npw coming out with a promise that their nifty accessory will solve such situations. Their new Charger Bracelet accessory basically stores a number of Lithium-ion cells on a bracelet and plugs directly into handhelds and even mobile phones.

It already comes with adapter cables for the PSP, DS Lite, and specific mobile phone models available in Japan (au, DoCoMo, SoftBank). The Lithium-ion cells can be recharged separately through a USB port and lends around 15 to 22 hours of power for the Nintendo DS on its default setting and around three to four hours for the Sony PSP. While there have been local accessories with similar portable charging functions, Thanko's claiming their charger is more trendy.

Seeing how the device is only available in Japan so far, anybody who's interested in playing your handhelds on the go without the risk of your battery dying out will have to find away to import this accessory. The Charger Bracelet is set at 4,980 yen or around US$ 43 and is available through Thanko's online store.

It's insignificant, but I'm pointing it out anyway.
In the line "interested in playing your handhelds on the go without the risk of your battery dying out will have to find away" The "away" needs to be "a way."

Aren't you gonna get tumors or something? I heard that if you live near power lines, you get cancer... So, if you're going to continually have these things humping your arm, aren't they gonna be giving off radiation or magnitization or whatnot?

dealextreme.com is also selling a bunch of "extended rechargers" that advertise mah's as high as 9800! Of course, it's probably a lot less, but some people have reported recharging their DS Lites 4 times on a single charge of the 9800 battery things...

wow wow wee wa!

This isn't nuclear power we're talking about.

Not a bad idea, but you'd look like a complete dork with it on. It would be good for car and bus trips.

The next step would be to hook up the PSP/DS to your HEART for extra power!

well, I think the tumors are more likely (since you're getting long term electromagnetic radiation). Sure, like the guy above said, it's not nuklear radiation, but it's still magnetic radiation, and having it concentrated in one place for a long time is not safe. And anyone play with the PSP for more than 1 hour? It tends to get hot. Really hot.

Also, regarding the laptop batteries exploding... that's only a threat if we're dealing with dell or sony, so it doesn't really apply to the PS... wait... oh no, we're doomed!

"Japanese accessories maker Thanko is npw coming out with a promise that their nifty accessory will solve such situations."

The word is "now" not "npw". Proximity error.
