Saints Row 2 streaking - Image 1

In Saints Row 2 (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), there's a task there that'll have you "streak closely to as many people as possible" to earn "Respect" stats. Fun, huh? But will the ratings boards find it funny?

Craig Mitchell of THQ media relations is looking confident.:

In terms of backlash from the game's content, we are not too concerned. THQ and [Saints Row developer] Volition have worked within the guidelines of the ESRB and the international ratings boards and the game has been rated appropriately.

In North America, the game has been given an M for Mature rating. Apart from that, the ESRB's content descriptor for the game , which will be on Saint Row #@%!4

5#@%!'s packaging included Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Content, Strong Language and Use of Drugs.

"In streaking, the character's front is blurred out, plus, all the characters were made 'asexual' so even a possible mod/hack would not reveal anything," explained Mitchell. The game's character customization is so in-depth that you can actually create male or female characters in the nude, albeit with frontal blurs.

Saints Row 2 will be streaking your way on October 14.

It's strange why they can't just have full nudity and give it an 18+ rating (which M is anyways) I am not sure why games have to go through so much scrutiny, when any kid with cable can see some boobs on TV late at night watching showcase (in canada anyways). It's also annoying that they are a form of entertainment like movies, yet have way more restrictions enforced on them....I think it's kinda lame, I want to see floppy digital titties....

It's because Americans are total pussies when it comes to nudity. Violence America's more cool with, but nudity is somehow more damaging?

Only damage I think digital nudity would cause is semen gunking the controller, HA.

your right solidus...."nudity" is apparently more dangerous than violence....if you went to europe...you would find children's books where the children are naked...now compare that to here...in north america...if there was a children book where children are naked....the author, publisher and everyone else involved with the book would have their asses handed to them.

 » Rated M for Mature (17+)

I've seen games rated M and list 'Nudity' as one of the bad things in the game. So why can't this one happen?

clothed dry humping for GTA:SA got an AO rating...

i think they wanted to avoid that...

 » Exactly.

The God of War games had plenty of nudity. They got an M rating, and not an AO. These kinds of things make me wanna move to the U.K.

I am in agreement with all comments which is quite rare.
The cable guys and sat dishes pump hardcore sex into every living room. Parental locks etc are offered but most teens know how to break them.
That a game is put under such scrutiny is quite simply a joke beyond belief.
It is a little like the madness about sex and marriage.
many countries it is legal to marry at 16 but you need to be 18 to watch a film showing what you are already doing in the bedroom.

Why do they blur humanity?!?! Why can't you show naked bodies? Everybody has one own. So - where is the problem? You Americans are crazy :D

Ridiculous...
