If you thought growing up on your hood was tough, wait 'til you experience THQ's Homefront, yet another FPS coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Developed by Kaos Studios, this new shooter takes the fight out of the usual jungles, complexes, and fictional planets. Homefront, as the name implies, will have you defending your very own backyard against invading foreigners, and when they walk into your place with guns, you know things are gonna get personal.

The story is set at 2027, the world suffered a decade-long energy crisis, economies crumbled, and the super-power that was the United States is reduced to a mere shadow of its former glory. Looking to take advantage, North Korea decides to advance on the now in-shambles US, and every American once again fights for the freedom that the nation stands for.

David Votypka, design director at Kaos Studios on the game:

Homefront isn’t about going to war on the other side of the world or battling aliens from another planet; it’s about fighting foreign invaders in your own backyard and defending your right to live.

Homefront combines the unsettling notion of an occupied America with interactive, player-driven narratives to create a deeply engaging single and multiplayer experience.

With all the shooters out there, including all the top-profilers, the fact that you have to protect your home from trespassers right outside your doorstep could be a great thing, and definitely not in a redneck-with-a-buckshot sort of way. Having malls and suburbs as your battleground should make for a pretty interesting playthrough - not to mention that the concept literally hits home.

You probably saw this coming, but there will be more details for Homefront on THQ's E3 booth. I'll be putting this on my games-to-watch list.

This could get interesting if they include actual cities in the game. Imagine a FPS right in Hollywood LOL.
