In the 21st century, gone is the stereotype that the realm of electronic geekdom is strictly for dudes. Such was the premise of a recently released study by the Solutions Research Group, indicating that today's women are outdoing their male counterparts with regards to tech-savviness. This research is based on a total 2,025 trending interviews taken between October 2007 to February of this year. The sample target of these interviews were designed to represent the regional, age and ethnic make-up of the country's female online population. The study also divided up the women sub-groups according to their life stages: young singles, moms with young kids, moms with tweens/teens, and empty nesters. So, where do the gals outdo the guys? SRG's study indicates that women clocked in higher percentages of usage when it came to Digital Video Recorders (DVR), social media (eg. Facebook, MySpace), and casual gaming. The study also indicated that women were more likely than men to own a Sony PSP; their other choice consoles included the PS2, the Game Boy, the Xbox, The N64, and the DS. Here's a lowdown of the study's other interesting results:
That, and it certainly makes it easier to figure out what to get our significant other for their birthday: Get 'em whatever you're having! |
