There are some who are content with the appearance of their stock PlayStation 3s, Xbox 360s and Wiis, but those who aren't have two options: mod it yourself or send it into one of the many companies which mod the systems. If you don't have time for the first option, Colorware offers just the service you need.

The company offers a lot of options for those who really want their systems spruced  up. You can send in your consoles, and for US$ 99 they will color your system according to your specifications. If you don't have a console yet, you can purchase one from them, pre-colored and in the manufacturer's original packaging. Their services are not limited to coloring your systems, as they also color up to four controllers to match your system.

According to their site, purchasing a colored console would set you back a few extra hundred dollars or so, as compared to buying the plain, old versions:
  • PS3: US$ 725
  • Xbox 360: US$ 525
  • Wii: US$ 325 (currently out of stock, go figure!)
So, if you're planning on having your system colored, then maybe you should check out their website via our Read link. If you think you need to see more, check out some of the screenshots we have of the systems they've done. One thing you have to remember though, if you plan on either ordering a console or shipping yours in for coloring, it takes eight to ten working days to get it back- an eternity for someone like me who hasn't been away from a console for more that 24 hours.

 » not a good idea

they prolly just paint it without disassembling it...making it prone to internal damage

umm... what leads you to even think that?

does it really matter that much what color your system is? I would much rather save my $100 and get 2 games.

Sorry, but for $125 + no warranty I assume, I'll just paint it myself. Or not at all, the default colors are fine.

That red 360 is undeniably so much cooler than the plain white or the elite!

To each his own I guess, but you ask me that thing looks like sh*t, really don't see how anyone could enjoy having that eyesore in their living room.

Unless you were being sarcastic (which I am hoping), disregard my reply in that case

PS3 vs X360 [Fact Sheet] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Based on reports and statistics...
- PS3: 3.2 million consoles have been sold (during Nov. 2006 - Apr. 2007, for 6 months)
(0.53 million consoles per month)
- Wii: 6.1 m sold (Nov. 2006 - Apr. 2007, for 6 months)
(1.01 m per month)
- X360: 11.5 m sold (Nov. 2005 - Apr. 2007, for 18 months)
(0.64 m per month)

Wiis are being sold with fastest rate...
Wii > X360 > PS3

So, you think this f+cking Wii will win in this next-gen war?
- Most analysts I read say either PS3 or X360 will eventually win; therefore, let’s completely forget about Wii; Wii is just a fad (f+a+g).

Now, we are almost there for conclusion. So, you think X360 will win in this war because X360 consoles are sold with faster rate? Let me just add some more info here...
- X360: 9.1 m sold (during Nov. 2005 - Nov. 2006, for 13 months)
(0.7 million consoles per month)
- X360: 2.4 m sold (Dec. 2006 – Apr. 2007, for 5 months)
(0.48 m per month)

PS3 > X360 (since Nov. 2006)

Until Nov. 2006, when the X360 has been the only next-gen console, 0.7 million X360s were sold per month on average. Then PS3 and Wii were released for the first time. Since then until now (Apr. 2007), only 0.48 million X360s have been sold every month. This 0.48 million X360 units are even lower than the number of PS3s sold. After a quick math, after the release of PS3 and Wii, X360 consoles suffered 32% sales decline. People just had to buy X360s until Nov. 2006 only because X360 was the only option they had; monopoly; there were no other options...

So, who can save this ever-falling X360 and Micro$oft (from the HELL)?
- Halo 3? Not a chance... because...

Halo 3 will be humiliated first then trampled next by Lair (cinema quality motion), Ratchet & Clank (Walt Disney meets Pixar), Warhawk (better than Unreal Tournament 3), Heavenly Word (next-gen God of War 3) and Killzone 2 (next-gen Half-Life 3). All these will be released in Jul to Sep. 2007. So, in a few months, there’s only one A-game on the X360 when there’re five A-games for the PS3.

And just wait a few more months from that time; PS3 owners will exclusively have Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy 13, Final Fantasy versus 13, MotorStorm 2 (tentatively confirmed), White Knight Story (revolutionary RPG), LittleBigPlanet, Home, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3 (tentatively confirmed), and Resistance 2.

I have listed about 20 A-games which are exclusively available on the PS3. However, only one A-PS3-game is needed to crush and trample Microsoft and X360 altogether (including Crapalo 3).

WTF r u doing on the X360 page? even if u'r just looking - dont post u'r Gaystation fanboy comments here - i'm sure no-one wants 2 hear them.

Im not even gonna read over your propaghanda. All anyone has to do is look at the sales and realize which one is better. 360 is in 1st place, and ps3 is in last. end of story

its so pathetic to see someone spouting off garbage like this. all i have to say is youre wasting your life.

I hope people gave this comment good ratings because they thought it was funny, I don't even see how PS3 fans could agree with. I am, and I don't.

Haha, wow man, I mean I love my PS3, but if you're talking about sales then you couldn't be more wrong. Halo 3 will easily outsell all of those except FF13 and Gran Turismo by millions. And will probably be better than a good few of them, like Warhawk. Don't even get me started on Killzone, Halo-killer my ass. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even *like* Halo.

Halo 3 will also undoubtedly sell 360s. There is nothing that needs to be saved "from the HELL", the 360 and MS have already cemented themselves in the video game world. I'm a die hard PS3 fan and even I can see that, sorry if you can't.

On a side note, isn't it a little idiotic to compare Halo to Lair or, heaven forbid, Ratchet and Clank? They are nothing alike.

BTW you listed 14 games, not 20.

360 sucks but still, why the ***** would anyone send their sytem to those guys?

..who knows what they'll do with it

 » Hmmmm

So you send them your system, risk having it damaged, have the warranty voided, and spend $99 to get it colored. And if it does get back to you damaged, since the warranty is void because of the paint, your sh*t outta luck. Sounds like a good deal to me!

Quote from the support page:

"Section II: Personal product sent in for the ColorWare Inc. colorization service is warrantied against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 (one) month from the date of shipping the finished product. In addition, ColorWare Inc. will waive any labor fees that may be incurred as part of a repair for 12 (twelve) months after the shipping date of the finished product. This additional warranty only applies to labor for repairs associated with normal hardware failure, not product modification or accidental damages as described in Section V. Note that the coloring process may also void any non-ColorWare Inc. outstanding warranties the customer may have. If you discover a defect, ColorWare Inc. will, at its option, repair or replace the product as long as the defect is found to be at the fault of ColorWare Inc."

So if your system does get damaged and they find it to not be at the fault of ColorWare (which they probably do without looking at it) you're out of a console.
